For you guys out there that have websites with links pages lets swap links!

Swapping links with webpages that have similar content is a big plus when it comes to google positioning... Backlinks alone are good, but with similar content it is a big plus!

Even though most visitors to a website don't view a "links" page I do not recommend swapping links with an immediate competitor lol.

I work for a large internet marketing company with over 10,000 sites. We stopped including link pages on sites about 2 years ago.. All link pages do is give your visitors an opportunity to leave your site without contacting you. I would recommend trying to get quality inbound links from local associations, community organizations, etc. those will act as votes of confidence. Reciprocal linking campaigns have no impact on performance and you could negatively impact your sites performance. See googles guidelines https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en

Sounds like a good idea, I'm starting to gather some data for other local car professionals (tinter, pdr, PPF, wheel repair, leather repair etc...) and plan to have links to those on my site and hopefully get some back in the process.

Adding a section for other detailers around the country might not be a bad idea as everyone has family or friends in other parts of the country. That way it doesn't just look like a "links" page solely for having links. There's actually a potential value for the customer.
