Let's talk car shows

For those of you who participate in car shows/cruise nights, when did you first decide your car was "worthy" (for lack of a better term) of entering them?

I've always loved going to them and thought it would be cool to be able to participate someday. Well, with the recent purchase of my GTO, my interest has certainly peaked. My Goat has a decent list of mods (nothing crazy though) and I personally feel it's gorgeous, but the last thing I wanna do is be that guy people are walking by wondering why that car was entered lol. I guess if nothing else it's a bit intimidating since I've never done it before and don't personally know anyone in my area involved in that scene.

Its about hp and bling. Frankly, having perfect paint isn't worth a cup of coffee in terms of being "worthy" unless you're entering the high end concourse or high prestige events.

I've noticed this too . Got to Love HP lol . Your Black Goat looks to be as nice as any that attend , I say go have fun , the friendships you make is what its all about for me . That and watching the next Generation of younger car guys/gals make their way into the Hobby .They cant do that if we aren't out there showing them the way . I do more Cruise Inns then shows ,I do try to do the Wounded Warrior Project events ,money well spent IMO .. It can be rough on the stomach watching so many "show cars" drive through a farm field or the like , then commence to scrub the heck outa their ride . Yikes ...

Are those CCW's ? No matter , they really look sharp against the Black . Congrats on the cool new ride .

Haven't had a show "worthy" vehicle since my 1957 Chevrolet and the two (1968 & 1969) AMX's.

Funny thing at our local show someone working the orange cones slides them open to enter the corral when I pull in just as a spectator. My trucks not a show vehicle it's just clean. Maybe in five or so years when it hits 20 I may reconsider it.

I never enter my cars in shows... jut like to go and look around.

Haven't gone to any this year... last one I went to last year the swirls just made me sick.
The icing on the cake was almost getting in an argument with the rep from the Maclean dealership because he was trying to tell me the reason the 2 vehicles he brought looked so bad was because they needed a good coat of wax...

I only do car shows for fun, meeting other car people, and seeing other great cars. So over the stress and attitudes that come with car shows. Most people who care for their cars on this site are going to look better than 80% of the cars at a car show. Local shows and cruise in are so much better. People are so much nicer since the bragging rights over a trophy are gone.

Except when he is chief Judge of the Autogeek Detail Fest Car show! That Pat takes super seriously!

I agree though. I cringe when I go to shows and or cruise ins. But I do it for fun. Car people are great people and cruise ins usually bring any and all different types of cars and trucks. Its neat to see different stuff even if its not my thing.

There is a cruise night down here in Miami where a lot of young kids show up in their rides. They are so clueless as to how to keep there cars looking nice. I might put on a clinic the next time :)

I would have bet him the use of the car for the weekend that he was wrong! LOL
