This weekend has provided some well-needed rain but while that was going on outside, this detail was happening in my garage. Shout out to a racing club member and friend of mine, Bill & his wife Julie who I've detailed a vehicle or two before and am honored to work with on yet another. This time Julie is the proud owner of what I consider one of the best-looking small to mid-sized cars in its class. Everyone who walked by asked me if it makes me wish for another black car again and the answer is definitely for sure!
This New Lexus IS-350 is finished in Caviar Black Metallic Pearl. It's a fantastic metallic that absolutely shines in sun, carries over a DEEP black in the shadows, and really accents the crisp lines of this car very well. Lexus has super soft paint finishes which makes correcting/perfecting them easy and difficult at the same time. It's one of the only finishes I will use my softest gloss pad on and actually one where I'll run the polisher at more of a slower vs fast speed.
The goal here was to really perfect the new car appearance, deepen up the gloss and apply a ceramic coating to not only help make it far easier to clean but to help add just enough protect as they do, to prevent micro-marring during the drying phase of care day-forward that is common on soft finishes.
The BEST part about all this IMO is the black chrome that Lexus offers for the wheels. There isn't a better option to outfit this car and color with than this offering. Here too, ceramic will help keep them as perfect as they are now with far less struggle to keep them clean.
Many thanks to both Bill & Julie for trusting me and my work and to their son Nick for doing the same over the years. She's keeping dry curing up until the weather passes and making me re-think my choice in daily drivers and colors too
Thankfully mother nature gave me a bit of a window to take pics yesterday. Only a couple washed out due to the glare but I think these do it some justice in terms of how well the job turned out. Enjoy!
Process Here was using my Flex XCE on Speed 4 with CarPro Gloss Pads and CarPro Essence for a slow smooth perfection refinement of the finish. Sealed up with 2 layers of CarPro SiC on the paint and trim and GYEON Q2 RIM on the wheels.
