I served 8 years in the Navy with electronics/computers background. It took me a couple of months to find a job and make the transition to civilian life and I haven't looked back since. One thing for sure, there are tons of military friendly companies nowadays. It's natural to feel uncomfortable when we have to take that next step out of our comfort zone.
As for the bs or politics, whether its in the military, private sector, or non-profit sector - it's always gonna be there - just a fact of life!
