I'm in the process of doing some work to my garage and have a few more lights to put up. Here's a pic of one of the walls for reference:

I want some additional general lighting on the sides of the vehicles and my original idea was put a couple of 4' shop lights (I already have some more of those) on the walls towards the floor. Do you guys think that would be good, or would I be better off mounting the lights up farther towards the ceiling with them sort of angled towards the car?

start poking around pro pics and see what they are doing in their shops.

my idea of a super functional and realistic setup is side by side 4' dual bulb fixtures overhead (so 8' long), positioned a few feet apart so there would be, say, 4 rows of lights in that fashion and then one of those side by side banks on the side wall, up high...and one down low about level with the average door handle. then i'd have some sort of mobile version of that wall on the other side and obviously mobile adjustable LED floods.

my current setup has some of those features, but i don't have any side mounted tubes. next house will.

i'd have everything at 5k (as i do now). i know there are people who think you need different color temps to see everything, but i can't stand anything cooler than 5k and between 5k fluorescent and 5k LEDs, i can see more than enough to make anyone happy lol.
