A local limousine company wants to send me 5 or 6 cars per month. I'm not big into production detailing lately, especially not large vehicles, but I figured I would at least give them a bid and maybe it could turn out to be a lucrative job.

I'm a full time detailer. I have a small 2 bay shop in Springfield, Mo. Just to give you an idea of what I'm getting in Springfield. I'm charging 160 for a full detail on a small 4 door car, 200 with a one step. 300+ major paint correction. These are regular prices for regular customers.

How would you guys price the following options on a limo?

  • wash and wax and interior touch up
  • Full (interior/exterior) detail (clay and wax, but no polishing)
  • full (int/ext) detail with one step polish (probably d151 and rotary on white cars/DA on black) This is as fast as possible production detailing. Don't forget!
  • I will probably charge $30 to $40 per hour on major paint correction.
These prices need to be reasonable but profitable. Thanks!

Your PM box is full, I left you a "visitor message" on your profile page. Sorry I'm no help with your current question, unless of course you need to bring in a hired gun.. ;)

Way back when, when I drove, the company only wanted to keep the cars clean......swirl o matic clean and we had to clean the inside. I am thinking they will want a quick wash and wax and interior clean up. Just my thoughts anyway.

Sorry about that, just fixed the problem. For now, I'm just doing all the work myself. I'm trying to focus on quality and outperform everyone else in town. I'm definitely thinking about hiring somebody in 1 to 2 years.

I bet you are right. I'm hoping that is the case. I really don't want to be doing major work on these huge cars.

So, I guess I'm mostly interested in wash and wax and touch up prices. Anybody?

Formula I use is price per foot for comparable non-limo + I would give them a multi car and "frequency discount".

This is the easiest way to justify pricing to your customer.

P.S. This formula works for regular limo, stretched and even SUV limo. Compare apples to apples :)

That a good idea. I've done that for boats. Perhaps I will apply the same formula to the limos.

Give them a high initial price to get the cars up to your standards, then an attractive maintenance price that will keep you both happy.

Lots of sleazy people out there shop bids, run their fleet through hoping you will do your best job at an intro price, then they find another patsy.

Might want to figure in enough to cover some TyVek suits then.....

I saw one at the car wash not too long ago and the owner let me look inside. It had been out for a night and there were food wrappers and dirty foot spots around. It was an older limo, but that's an awful lot of paint, taping, and vacuuming. I can't imagine cleaning one in the heat.

I decided on
$10 per foot: wash and wax and interior touch up
$14 per foot: wash and wax and full interior
$18 per foot: 1 step and interior touch up
$22 per foot: 1 step and full interior

I loosely based that on what I believe will be about $30 per hour. I based that on the average 18ft car.

If I don't get the gig at those prices then so be it, because I'll go broke at anything lower.

I'm hoping they will fit in my shop or else I'm going to be burning alive this summer.

wear gloves when cleaning those limo seats you never know what kinda juices are on there

Haha, the guy didn't call me back at those prices and, honestly, I didn't really care. He just needs to hire some high schoolers at minimum wage.

If it's a business in/out turn around about 1 hour.
