I did an advanced search but didn't find anything.

I'm trying to get some ideas of a service I can add on that requires 30 min max.
My scenario is that I own a small automotive business and so far my detailing customers have been local business owners and all word of mouth. I'd like to open up services to customers who may visit my shop without the intention to have anything " extra" done.
My schedule is chaotic right now, so I want to target some quick money "details" and make appointments for the time consuming ones which I can finish at night when my business is closed.

My ideas so far are;

Headlight polishing- possibly using the method that I recently saw on a review by Dr.Pain. The technique I've been using takes 45 min- 1 hour.

Windshield cleaned and protected- wash, clay, rain x or some other brand that performs well on glass.

Polishing scratches behind door handles- self explanatory. I was able to make decent improvement on our family van in less than 20 min on all four doors (may be a harder sell than others).

Here are a few:

Tire coating instead of dressing, I charge 20$ and it takes me about 30 minutes instead of the 10 minutes to dress.

Trim restoration, again about 30 minutes to clean and apply product of your choice. An other 20$ upsell

Aquapel windshield treatment, 25$ upsell. Product cost about 10$ and takes less than 30 mins to do.

Tire coatings are a super easy, fast way to charge a bit more...and provide a year of eliminating constant tire dressing applications. You've got to properly clean the tires anyway...

I think windshield clean/protect can be a slippery slope though. For every X you get there's going to be that 1 that looks like it was effectively sandblasted that the customer is going to expect miracles from. I'd say if you already have the car for a detail that as an add-in/upsell after you've already seen the car is probably viable, but as a checkbox on it's own it could bite you in the a$$. Tire coating on the other hand is pretty much a blind sell.

What coating are you using? I just applied Tuf Shine last week. Was a breeze to apply, and appears to be holding up. We had a monsoon 24 hours after I applied it, and it held up very well through that. I was under the impression it lasted a month or 2.

Do you have the link to the Dr. Pain thread you mentioned?

Also have you thought about a "de-bugging/ polish and protect the font bumpers and mirrors? I have done it a few times where I took the bugs off, hit it with a 1 or 2 step polish, and then apply a couple coats of sealant. Most of the times the cars are lighter colors where the scratches in the paint arent as apparent all over, but there is a bunch of etching on the bumper and mirrors because the bugs were not removed in a timely manor.

DrivePur antibacterial treatments. Takes about 15-30 minutes and you can charge $40 - $120 depending on if you are doing standard antibacterial treatment or a heavy smoke odor removal treatment.

Don`t rush this. You get faster with time. Results are far more important than time to a certain extent. 45 min is not bad. Some will take you less.

I can waterlesswash, clay using Iron X as lube, Eraser wipedown, and apply CarPro Forte in a bit over 30 min. I charge $100+ for the service and its a super easy upsell and great service.

Flex PE-8 or cut up pads will make this an easy upsell. Look for ladies with nails who come in.

See my replies in blue. Others that may take a tad more time but are money makers for me are:

- Polishing & coating piano black pillars. (Especially Ford`s as they have the keyless entry) These literally scratch just looking at them.

- Spot scratch repair & fill. Many don`t care for corrected paint. But there is always that scratch or 2 that bothers them. This is easy money.

- I do 3M undercoating applications in wheel wells, especially for pickups whose rear wheel wells have exposed paint and no liners. Easy to do and easy money.
