Here we have the Classic American Sports Car. California edition (no hard top included)
This was a daily driver for years until the kids got bigger and on to the Range Rover for that.

My customer used to own a high end body shop so she knows paint.
This was a repaint and detail without the details.
Orange peel in a few spots, sanding marks left on the hood and the white? COMPLETELY scratched up with sanding marks. Why? Because the panels are CONCAVE and hide defects very well by deflecting light away from your eyes.
Geesh! Can one body shop do a good job? I've never seen one yet.

Waterless Washed
Clayed
M105
DeWalt Rotary
Wool Pad

Rupes 21
Meguiar's MF Finishing Pad
Meguiar's D301 Finishing Wax

On to the work
Remove these flimsy wiper arms. Your rotary will break these off in a heart beat
IMG_20130830_080659_107_zps7a2b8d3c.jpg

Now some of you don't clay "because it doesn't need it". Well I ALWAYS CLAY.
Here's a good reason why. This paint was smooth to the touch.
Well as I clayed I noticed all this black coming off the paint.
What is it? TAR!!! My customers neighborhood is getting re-tared and a light coating of TAR was all over the car.
You couldn't feel it or see it, until I clayed the car.
So Clay, ALWAYS CLAY. You never know whats on the paint.

Amazing work!

I was wondering if that was a burn when I was swiping through the pictures on my phone.

Yep I guess it was.

You used the Dewalt to buff out the sanding marks the body shops left behind?

Thank you very much for the kudos gentlemen

......You used the Dewalt to buff out the sanding marks the body shops left behind?
Yes!

...... I'm sure it was a joy to work on.
You don't even know. I did a full day and came back the next to wax it!
I was loving this car and the customer too!
She was "realistic" about it, which is rare to find in a customer. She loved it and I'll be seeing her after it gets back
from the body shop and every month after.
I'll get this car up to speed in a few visits.
I'm going to polish up the door jams, dash, glass and all the chrome.

Beautiful car and great work.Too bad Chevy did`nt offer a 4 speed that year as that would be fun to drive.:buffing:

Great work on the front end around the headlights and grill. Those small areas require a lot of concentration and a thinking process to not mess anything up.

Very nice. Pretty hot here in SoCal right now. At least you had a garage to work in.

That's a shame about the burn through. Years ago I buffed thru an edge on the hood of my explorer and feathered some touch up paint with an airbrush and you couldn't even tell. Thinking the same could be be done on this Vette.

I know you use a lot of Meguiars products as do I but why did you go with Detailers Finish Wax? I've never used it.

I was in Coto, in the canyon, no breeze. I was sweating at 7:00 am!
I didn't do the burn threw. I just want to be clear about that. The awesome body shop did that.
For the wax I used Meguiar's D301 Finishing Wax.

Sent while I was Detailing or something related to detailing ;)

Yeah, I always assumed it was the body shop. (Burn through)

Your here in Cali. huh? This heat wave has been really strong. (Not only has it been hot but it has been super humid)

By 8:00AM you will be dripping sweat

I know you didn't do the burn through. Hate to admit it but I've done it twice, both on my cars. That's why I learned how to fix it. I can tell you it's much more time consuming to fix vs to damage, lol.

I give you a lot of credit doing this work in this heat. Just checked my weather ap and it's going to be with us for another week at least.

Helps to work on such a sweet car! Looks great.
