Locked Keys In Car

Hide-a-key.

I have one hidden under every car I have ever owned. I put them in such a horrible place to have to get to no one could find it by just looking.

And it isn't even a real key. It is one of those plastic "credit card" keys that AAA will make for you. They will open a door but not work in the ignition.

i didn't realize they still make the plastic keys. I need to get one.

My old Jeep Cherokee

I had one of those plastic 'credit card' keys in my wallet. It came in handy more than once.

BMW

BMW Assist (sort of similar to On Star, as I understand), once registered, provides a remote unlocking service from wherever you are. Additionally, there is an iPhone app which will (1) locate your vehicle vis-a-vis your position if it is withing 0.5 miles of you, (2) map how to find it (if you really need to), and (3) unlock or lock your car.

I tried #3 yesterday and was amazed this worked! It took about 3-5 minutes for the communications process to complete, but m doors magically unlocked after a few taps on my iPad. My daughter thought it was pretty cool, too!
