So halfway through the first van. My neighbor came over and brought me an Eraser Wheel. Luckily there was enough on there to finish one van. It was a vast change in pace compared to the heat gun. I just ordered a couple online. Informed the customer it will take a few days for the wheels to get in to finish the job. He said that was fine.
Big weight off my shoulders I was stressing over it as you could tell in my last post. Anyways waiting for the erasers to come in and I'll have some pictures up.

Be careful on white cars. I don't know if you seen this on the van, but mine left yellow marks everywhere. I had to polish it off and because the van I did was very sun damaged, the parts I polished stood out, so I ended up polishing the whole van. Any other colors I didn't have a problem with.

Hope things are working out for you. When you have severely dried decals it can be a real pain. It's just time consuming. You asked what to charge. My suggestion to you is to establish a labor rate. Then you won't have to worry about losing your shirt when stuff doesn't go as planned. I have been in this business for over 20 years now and a labor rate is fair and respected by all. The worst for me as far as decal removal has been the the fairing of an 18 wheel chassis. Those things dry up bad and an eraser wheel is your only option. I have done literlly hundreds of cargo vans without too much trouble. Also polishing after removing decals is standard procedure always, so figure that into your time as well in the future. after this thread was made i decided to remove my "RAM" logo from the side of my 2010 black dodge ram. Well it was a nightmare to say the least. I ran out of goof off which was working with a plastic razor blade but just barely so i used goo gone which did nothing... so i took a blow dryer to it to heat it up but that didnt do anything. So i got desperate... DONT EVER GET DESPERATE! I broke out a torch... Yeah a torch i know... So i went at it with a torch very carefuly not leaving it at one spot at a time. well because it was cold out side my door panel sucked in and now i have a huge dent... about the size of a soccer ball... well it gets worse... I got even more desperate and was kinda at the F it point. so i got out laqur thinner and went to town using the back of a kitchen sponge... It took it off with ease but i ended up with a ton of scratches. Luckily they all buffed out thank god but what a nightmare.
This is why I always recommend an eraser wheel. All the heat is absorbed by the wheel. It removes all the glue simply and effortlessly. Maybe a quick polish by hand for any gentle marring that occurs.
I don't recommend it for plastic bumpers or trim, it can mess up the paint on those panels.
Hopefully the dent will push back out without damage to the paint.
It only costs about $12, so its not a crazy amount to pay. A heat gun is $40-100 for reference, then still need some kind of adhesive remover, which is usually about $15 a quart.

I'm glad the eraser wheel has worked for you, I knew it would! Just be very careful on plastic bumpers or trim, it can melt the paint right off in seconds.

I ended up ordering a 10 pack of Eraser wheels to keep in my arsenal now. I'll Stick to the heat gun for pin stripes and small one layered logos. Other than that I'll be using the eraser wheel. I used it on a corded drill with no problems.
I've gotten better with the heat gun, Come to find out I wasn't using it right and had it on 750. When I turned it to 1350 it was staying hotter longer for me to take me stickers off with no adhesive left over. Practice makes perfect.
Needless to say got the 3 vans outta my hair and it paid off in the end. $$ :xyxthumbs:
Steps used.
-Wash with Meguiars gold class shampoo and conditioner.
-Hot Water
-Scrubbed with a microfiber wash mitt.
-Went back over any eraser/logo marks with 3M Adhesive Remover
-Washed again
-Clayed with Meguiars Fine Grade Clay w/ Meguiars quick spray detailer as lube
-Dried with Cobra Guzzler
-Applied Meguiars Fine Cute Cleaner #2 with a Blue HF Polishing Pad.
-Followed with a thin layer of Meguiars Hi Tech Yellow #26 using a HF Black finishing pad.
Here's the only pictures I was able to take. I'm very pleased with the results so is the customer. He said I was his "Go to guy" since they looked so good. Maybe ill buy a camera one day other than my crappy Phone.

That sounds like a nightmare. I almost lost it on these vans. with working my 40 hours and coming home and doing what I can with them. It wasn't going good and I thought I was in way over my head considering the deadline. I had to walk away from them feeling defeated Sunday night lol. Not to mention I was at the Rolex all weekend and was wore out. But in the end with dedication, these forums and some what of a calm temper it went well.
Glad everything turned out well with the Ram. No more torching please :nomore: Hair dryer is all you need for chrome logos like that. your just going to have to hover over it for a minute or two for it to really heat up and 20+lb fishing line. Dental floss always breaks on me.
