Long lasting windshield treatment

Thanks everyone, I will check the prices for each of these products and decided what my offering will be.

Just wondering, I've always wondered why you guys need, sealants, waxes, coatings, etc... On your windshields? Is it because of where you guys live and the different weather conditions?

Just wondering... Some feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I applied PL to my windshield after claying it, Just for kicks.... Hasn't rained or anything, so I just know that it's there lol. (No other benefits really, I will be washing my car Friday with my new gear that should get here Thursday. So I guess, I'll be able to enjoy the water beading off the windshield)

:)

The hydrophobic effect makes it easier to see in the rain, and during winter snow and ice will have a harder time sticking to the Windows.

I have used Rain-X for years and I am happy with the results. I have also tried combinations of Souveran Pinnacle Liquid wax over rain-X, KAIO, KAIO over rain-X and it seems to help. I am not entirely sure if the KAIO removes the rain-X. Crystal mist, FK425. The best two IMO are rain-x and KAIO. Topping them off every car wash with detail spray.

I use it on my glass to make removal of bugs cleaner plus when it rains it just glides right off. In the winter I find it the ice sticks a little bit less than without. When the car warms up (windshield) the ice just rolls off with out the use of the wipers which, in turn, saves me from having cut wiper blades.

G1 works great, so far I'm on month four and holding strong. However it is not easy to apply. Make sure you have an extra pack of those silly cosmetic "pads" or better yet cut your own micro swede cloth for application. It is all too easy for them to stick to your gloves and then fall to the ground. Also only work on one window at a time and keep track of the time as you do not want the G1 to "gum" up on you from waiting too long to remove. They give you exactly only enough residue remover to remove wet excess. The small 15ml bottle is enough to do the front window and side mirrors with three coats and two coatings on the back window of an average car.

One very important note, make sure to tape around the window to have about half inch over hang. On the car I applied it to, the plastic/rubberish cowl actually lifted up and deformed during the G1 drying. I'm guessing it was a chemical reaction to the G1 and it did return to shape after the G1 fully dried. It had me scared!

Way too complicated ;) I will definatelly use something even if this is a good product. If the product cannot use the KISS system, then an other product needs to be used.

I use a little spit and it even helps with fogging! I use Wolf's nano glass sealant.

I live in vegas and It rains during monsoon season. Also, I like my windshield to be smooth like my car and it keeps any contaminants from getting stuck to my glass just as the paint. People uuuhhh and aaahhh when they slide their fingers across my car and then I tell them feel the glass and their faces are the best!!

Hello guys,

Right now I use Rain-X for treating windshields and exterior Windows.

A co-worker of mine mentionned to me that he does a treatment every year on his truck and that the product they use lasts a year!

As far as I know Rain-X lasts about 2 months. Never tested the exact durability but I think 2 months is at the outer limit of what it can do.

Do you know of a product that would last a year, or at least a lot longer than Rain-X?

Why don't you ask your co-worker and post his answer! :buffing: Feed back please

He would not know ;( He has it down at a place where they install windshields, tinting, anti-rust and that sort of things. They must be using some common window sealant, would just like to know which one. It has to be pretty cheap too, they charge 20$ to do the windshield, so it can't be something that cost 30$ for one application like I have seen posted here.

I clayed my windows and applied PL. and it rained! It was really nice seeing the water flying off (beading) :)

Well any sealant will do that Hernandez ;) Question is: How long will PowerLock last on a windshield?

Most places like that use Aquapel, which is a really good product, but I don't like the applicator! always have a feeling it's going on too thick at the start, and then too thin at the end...
