Hey everyone. I'm Wes. I used to be one of the Wounded Warriors at the shop you guys have been seeing all over the forum and on the speed channel.

Im currently trying to get a detailing "Section" of the shop going, that seems to be coming along pretty well.

Well I just figured I'd use my introduction post to post something I've been working on.

The hood that Mike was damp sanding when he came down was passed on to me to finish up by my buddy Rob who painted the hood.

This was my first time ever using a rotary buffer. I borrowed my buddy's Makita.

Sorry for the blur...I have a pretty bad shake in my hands I cant seem to get rid of for the past few years, lol.

I know it's not perfect, but I'd like to know what you guys think. I finished it down as good as I could with the rotary, I plan on going over it tomorrow with the PC since I have very light scratches still present. This clear is SUPER soft! dang Cobra Blues are putting fine scratches in it too.

Let me know what you guys think!

Looks good, Wes! Welcome to the forum!

Hood is off a 4th-gen Camaro, right? You said the clear is super soft... do you know what paint system was used on it? Just curious.

Hi Wes,

Cool to see you on the forum!

Hood is looking good! :dblthumb2:

I might have a picture of the orange peel that I took the first day we arrived and I met Rob and we started setting up, I'll look and see. Regardless I'm sure it's looking great!

Since forums are very fluid with people coming and going all the time, for anyone not familiar with Operation Comfort, here's the link to some pictures from our trip there...

Standox base coat with Dupont High Solid Clear. Has around 5 Coats of clear for teaching purposes.

O and yes, a 2002.

Thanks for the kind works guys!

Thanks a lot mike! That'd be great if you could find those pictures. I appreciate all of the support you've given me since we've been in contact. That means a lot.

Not sure if you got my email, but give Meghan the biggest hug you can muster up for me. She deserves it!

How's Benjamin doing? He was so into buffing out his car after the class, he was a great guy and great student...

I've actually never met him. There are so many soldiers, that come and go, some due to medical reasons, other due to needs of the Army. It's a lot like the forums, a pretty fluid system, with a handful that stick around for the long haul.

Nonetheless, I know that everything that you taught him will stick with him forever, whether it's just taking care of his car or actually pursuing detailing further. THAT is at least my goal and the reason I'm trying to help out at the shop. They say knowledge is power, but I believe the willingness and ability to pass it on is as close to being rich as I ever desire to become.

If I'm able to get a hold of his contact information i'll def. tell him you say hi, and I'll PM you the information if he doesnt mind.

Welcome Wes, cool to have you here. Nice work on the hood, great fun isn't it!?

Welcome! Very nice work.

Watched the show on speed, it was very good. Getting back and doing things you enjoy are the most important and best therapy. My wife even watched it. She works at the local VA as a physical therapist. She doesnt see many new vets but she was very encouraged to see how you all are progressing. It really provides a good example to others.

Keep up the good work!

:welcome:to the greatest forum there is.....and may i say thanks to peoplelike you!:dblthumb2: Thank you for your service Wes! Enjoy yourself here!

Welcome Wes that hood looks great and i know how it feels to have a bum arm (nerve damage), this is a great forum and everyone really helped me pick out a DA that was just right for a one and a half armed detailer that used to buff out dinosaurs.:welcome::pc7424:
