Looking for a New Ride

I think many of the tacoma's are made in the good ol usa, alot better than what I can say about others...

I just don't like the newer Dakotas. I've looked at a few and just don't like the way they look. If I'm going to have to drive this thing every day I want to like it! lol

I hear ya Jason!

I have the 2nd generation Dakota and in my opinion this was / is the best looking of the Dakota lineage. :props:

Why sell your truck? No seriously, get a well-maintained $1500-3000 reliable (recommended brand/model) car that gets 30-35mpg highway. Just pay for liability and your insurance will probably GO DOWN more on the avalanche then you will pay on the.... camry? My 96 318 coupe gets 33mpg @ 70 mph, 35 @ 60-65, and 21 @ 100! A similar one could be had for 3-4k, but it's not a snow vehicle nor very reliable. I have an older 4wd astro van for my 4x8 sheets of plywood or 2000lbs of brick!

The only problem is that the money still goes back to Japan.
But the workers, administrators, and supervisors all have paid wages that all contribute to our GDP.....unlike companies that make cars in other countries, where the money is invested in that country, all vehichle purchases in this country does not help our GDP, and any money that comes to the U.S. goes to shareholders and top management officials. Oh, and to the lobbyist and senators they buy.:xyxthumbs:

The unfortunately truth. The domestics have been trying as hard as they can to send all the jobs overseas; meanwhile, the Japanese and europeans have taken advantage of our infrastructure to let us build the cars Americans are buying. Hmm. Wish we had a government that cared about actual job security, but the 1% really would rather you focus on other issues.... you know, scary things and stuff. Who needs jobs?

:xyxthumbs:yup, but at least other countries are still investing in our economy, which great for our economy. But the more we regulate, the more those companies question costs

Oops, I think I may have hijacked this thread, sorry SeaJay....Im the MAN

No problem! I figured this thread might go a little off topic when you start talking brands etc. People stand by their brand. I've personally always like Chevy's but I've own Dodge, Olds, and Nissan.

I still haven't decided what I'm going to do. I really think I may go with an SUV still and just get a small enclosed trailer for when I have projects or need to pack up my detailing supplies. Plus it would allow me to have a mobile rig! Expanding my business some.

We'll see...

Seejay have you looked into the 2011 F150 with the 3.7 litre turbo charged engine? The local dealers around here are offering 9000 off and it's supposed to get 22mpg on the highway.

:iagree:
My 2001 SuperCrew Cab F-150 gets 18mpg....So there's not much fall off in mpg's as you put more miles on the truck!

I'm not a big toyota fan to be honest.

I think somone may have already mentioned it, but maybe a hatchback would be good as well.

Honestly man, I was in a smiliar boat, just the polar opposite...

I have a Nissan Altima, and I LOVE IT!!! But when it comes to hauling things such as my detail supplies, I have no room for anything else....

Thus I was stuck in the situation of looking for another vehicle to get me good gas mileage, while upping the amount of space....

In all honesty, everything was pointing me towards the Ford Flex....

17/24 MPG and real world MPG seems to average right around 20-21 MPG.... regular 87 octane, and it would be what I am getting now with my Altima roughly (some mods to say the least :))

Take a look man, I love the Ford Flex for some reason...

Actually read an article this week on how flex is a great small suv option for those on a budget and seek decent mileage :)

Glad you like the small trailer and suv idea I think you will love the versatility.

I don't really like the Ford Flex. Plus it's on the higher end of price. Base model is around $29k here.

I think I've decided I want new. I want the warranty and stuff so I don't need to worry about repairs etc. Plus most dealerships are doing special financing and rebates on new vehicles now.

I'm really leaning towards a smaller SUV and getting an enclosed trailer that I can use for detailing. It really would come in really handy as well I think.

I really love the Jeep Wranglers. I've always been a fan of the Wranglers. They get better gas mileage than my truck and are smaller. Plus they are fun to drive.

I had a 2000 Dodge Dakota 5-speed that got 21 MPG year round. It did a good job in the snow, easy to maintain, and did a good enough job on gas. I'm not a huge fan of foreign rides, but the tacomas are sweet. I have an 04 f150 now that is a good ride, but not if you're looking to save on gas. My dad has a 2010 f150 that gets awesome mileage. Its a 4x4 and still gets 25 MPG on the highway. I think he said he gets 19 or 20 in town.

wranglers have zero storage.... isnt this the reason for your purchase? what about a bmw X5, jeep grand cherokee, nissan suv's are pretty nice. or the infiniti fx crossover
