Hi guys. Looking for some advice.

I have been using Wolfgang sealant for a few years ow. I also top it with fuzion wax afterwards. I am pretty pleased with the results. In the summer I have no issues with any dirt getting embedded that can't come out with little effort greater than subs and water during washing. My problems come with winter. If I go more than 2 weeks without washing, but I do powerwash on the way home every single time it snows or the roads get wet so nothing dries on the trucks. I only use water, I have a harder time cleaning and have to go to some clay or nano mit care.

So I have been thinking about trying something new.

I was looking for:

A. input on maybe what I'm doing wrong?

B. I'm thinking about trying something new. I was looking at: 1. carpro cquartz 2. carpro hydro2 but didn't know the real diff? does one hold up better than the other? 2. is there something else I should be looking at?

Any input would be great.

Thanks alot,
jim

A coating my help but...

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...onstant-bonded-contaminates-daily-driver.html

You could try topping it with a spray "wax" after each wash, that may help.

Or,

You could try Finsh Kare High Temp wax or one of the Collinites for your winter wax. Others have said they hold up well.

I'm still weighing whether a coating is what I need for winter care based on my experiences this winter, but I can tell you Collinite 845 holds up very well through the winter and is very easy to clean.

Perhaps try: not "topping" the Wolfgang
Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, with the Füzion
Wax, during the Winter months?

There are some that will chive in who know a lot more than me, but for what it's worth, in my novice opinion you sound like a candidate for a coating. Since I found AG in 2015, shorty after I was using the same combo as you. WGDGPS, topped with Fuzion, a killer combo. That lasted me through last winter. In July 2016 I put Wolfgang coating on. At first I swore off coatings ever again. Just because of all the prep work, and second guessing myself since it was the first time. I am sold now. The look is amazing, but when it comes to cleaning, that's when I fell in love with it. Comes cleaner much easier.

Ok I got all kinda questions now.

The 2017 comment is that cause I'm using sealant still or is the pro care costing even old compared to what I are talking about?

So applying the layer of wax on top of the sealant can cause issues? I always thought it was recommended to help?

So you all don't think he carpro will do any better than the sealant I'm using now?

Winter sucks! I will say the daily wash off helps a lot! But only if I wash it at least every other week. Go longer and I'm screwed

DG #111...tried and true, pure sealant too!

It's possible.

I was basing a recommendation solely
on how you originally described your
"cleaning embedded dirt issue":

I have been using Wolfgang sealant for
a few years ow. I also top it with fuzion
wax afterwards.

In the summer I have no issues
with any dirt getting embedded that can't
come out with little effort greater than
subs and water during washing.

My problems come with winter.

I'll go as far as to say, that, if nothing
else, it probably helps in the selling of
Wax products.

Step into 2017 and try a coating. I am sure you will like it when you wash your car and nothing sticks to it for over a year.

GYEON Q2 Mohs Ceramic Paint Coating - 30 ml

That's a pretty bold statement considering there are some of us that have almost constant bonded contaminates coating wax or sealant.

Winter is very hard on stuff in a lot of areas.

Sonus sfx 4 claims good against road salt. http://www.autogeek.net/sonus-sfx-4-paint-sealant.html

Could be something you just have to try with trial and error

So everyone is here making recommendations, but not really addressing the problem in my opinion. See what I highlighted. Power washing only and letting dry is a problem first of all. You`re not properly cleaning the salt and residue off completely. This will eventually happen with a coating and many other sealants you're looking at. If you are only going to power wash off, you need to first spray something to try and break up. My recommendation, and what I found worked absolute best when I lived in Syracuse....was Whip`s Wax Road Salt Remover.

Cquartz is a coating. Hydro2 is a sealant. Coating should last longer. More effort to apply - prep and cure time. Cquartz will almost certainly last longer than Hydro2. However, it's pretty easy to reapply Hydro2 as needed.

I'm struggling with a similar problem. How will coatings hold up under constant rain, snow, ice, and road grime. I don't know yet, but so far it's not looking great. It may be a sealant over a coating, like Reload over Cquartz UK. No idea if this is the best option, but it's one I'm playing with currently.

That's because people are using crap coatings like McKees and CQuarts OTC stuff. CQuarts Finest is different,

The only thing AG offer that is any good is Gyeon and they just started caring it. AG only really tries to push the box store stuff you can buy anywhere. All the AG private brands are just knock off's of other products. All the Wolfgang, KcKee's, Pinnacle * Including Black label and Black Fire stuff is really not that good but people buy it because they think it's special. It's not special at all.

Sonax Paint Sealant can not touch a true ceramic coating like Gyeon MOHS or anything by Kamikaze. If you think it can you are being sold a line of garbage by a marketing team and fooling yourself. I live 45 min east of Philly PA and we have Salt, Brine and everything on our roads. Wax or sealant of any type is a joke.

You would be better off buying from real manufactures like Dodo Juice, Bouncers, Sonax, Gyeon and other not sold on AG. AG is not the end all auto detailing authority.

thanks guys i'm taking this all in. i have to read about 915 and 845 cal tonight. i have used the the main companies on AG for years cause I took their advice and wolfgand and pinnacle has deff kept my cars looking better than anything around my house and at my dealership. i just picked up a new tahoe last week and they didn't even want to prep it cause they said i would do a better job. i know dealerships don't do a great job, but my trucks look great i feel after 3 plus years.

i just try to wash at least every week regardless of weather. if i can't i never go longer than 2 weeks if i can. i can wash in my heated garage now in the winter and this has def saved me. i really all comes down to weekly washing i feel also. at least in the crap NE winters.

i'll have a second post up shortly.

ok i want to hit on this cause maybe this is part of my problem. i hit the power wash on the way home in the winter and after rain storms so the heavier dirt doesn't dry and i try to pretty much blow off the rough stuff. i feel it has helps.

but you talk about how i am not truly cleaning. i totally know i'm not. so is their something better i can do for the days between washing without getting into any toweling afterwards. i literally just want to run and gun. i know it's not the best but it has to be better than not doing anything.

so:

1. what would be my best quick daily if the weather is bad breakdown?

2. my usual process before i use wolf sealant is wash (i use a shampoo without any wax in it. i grab this at local auto shops. like acquire or mother's. (is this my first problem? nano mit or clay. dry. hand polish. i never have had to use a swirl remover cause i do everything by hand and i haven't had any swirls that i can see in years. i then seal. and then wax.

3. my weekly wash is powerwash heavy crap off. come home and bucket wash. spray with liquid wax/lube and dry with MF towels. and i use the wolf spray sealant after every wash cause i feel it helps also.

should i be using diff products for my weekly process?
should i be looking into a diff sealant coating or won't it do any good. maybe better but not by much?

also with my daily rinse when bad out what can i use and isthier a diff process?

thanks!

I agree.

First, the wax, as it degrades, will begin holding more contamination. Most waxes won't be able to hold up to the salt, brine solutions, grime, etc of most winter areas.

Second, power washing the paint is only going to knock off the loose crud. You have to physically remove the grime by washing it off with friction.

I agree with Bob in to try using the sealant on it's own, without the wax. The sealant is much more resilient to the elements than even a hybrid wax * in general *. Meg's M16, and the Collonite Crew seem to throw that theory in the trash.

Duragloss 111 was mentioned, and I've always had great luck with that, M21, and more recently Rupes 808.

Sonax Polymer Net Seal. Easy to apply, long lasting and affordable.

Are you referring to coatings or products in general?
