Looking for a quality drying towel

Why its loud, annoying and not much faster. Plus towel drying should theoretically get it cleaner... Plus a lot of people like to use drying aids so in that case it will definitely look better then blow drying. There are pro's and con's to everything and they aren't the same for everyone.

I could buy the best car drier out there right now if I wanted to money is not the issue or whats stopping me from getting a car drier. I actually already have 1 but i dont really ever use it. I sheet the water off the car then there's hardly any left I dry it quick from there.

Agree. After sheeting off the water, there is very little water left. Also, the drying aids help remove any water spots that might have formed while I was working my way around the vehicle. The only place a blower would come in handy is getting water out of the mirrors, but I'm not firing up my leaf blower for only that purpose.

Same here and the design of my mirrors trap a LOT of water. Even after a blower they still drip. Ive started using rubber coated magnets and a small MF towel right below the mirror; keeps the issues at bay and I can move about my day.

Are your mirror housings metal? That's a great idea, but I'm not sure where I'd put the towels/magnets. On the door itself?

I will add I did try the blower once on the mirrors and water sprayed all over the place...and still proceeded to drip for some time afterwards. Tt makes you wonder if blowing actually drives the water deeper into the housing.

Nope big factory towing mirrors, they just seem to drip forever even after holding a blower to them.

I washed this last night at dusk and no drips down the door. Thicker towels dont work well as the little magnets dont have great holding power.

I got the idea from another vendor.... I just modified it to fit with what I had on hand. Their version is much more composed but the cost was high for what you get.

As for driving the water into the housing, thats definetly possible. I use my air compressor and blow gun w/rubber tip when prepping for paint correction; that gets 99.9% of the water from the crevices, but I do take my time.

Chevy/gm mirrors are horrible about that. I'm going to have to do this trick as man it'll be nice not to have drips and runs

Yeah they are, however my previous Tundra did it pretty bad too.

A trix for the side mirrors is to wrap each with a WW towel. You can use a degraded WW and just leave the towels on the mirrors when detailing it. If it's strong winds outside use a big rubber band over the towels to hold them in place. If possible move the car a little or at least start it so the water is releasing the tension. One more thing before wraping the mirrors is to spray a drying aid directly to the mirror and hope that a little overspray gets in the crevasis to help with the water tension. Then dry them and buff them and wrap them to catch the water that may be left.

I'm not seeing how that helps with drips from the body/mirror interface.

That probably works for normal size mirrors but towing mirrors would require a really large rubber band. Plus the mirrors stick out from the body enough that water from behind the mirror drips to the ground.

None touching the car is bad.metro blower then spray wax with short nap to dry up the spots.

Can't you wrap the towels around the interface closest to the paint. Or a side kick is the best choice.

This is why I need something like a Master Blaster, period

All you need is the Sidekick. If you don’t have 1 you’re missing out big time. Unless you’re the type who never does a full bucket wash.. But I’m sure even then it can be useful for certain things.

Why is the Sidekick better?

It’s cheaper.
It’s no slouch.
It’s a whole lot more portable.
It’s light weight.
It’s quik in, quik out & you’re done.
It’s just for those stubborn areas that you’ll never ever be able to hit such as inside side mirrors, wheels, lug nuts, grills, plastic trim [and I mean behind the trim], window moldings, license plates, lights, windshield wipers, emblems... If you get your car wet and don’t have 1 of these you’re cheating yourself.

The Master Blaster is a bit on the crazy side expensive for what it is.
I personally wouldn’t want to completely blow dry my car unless it was 1 of those industrial tunnel blowers they’ve got at the car wash, and even then they still follow it up with a wipedown.. But walking around with a hose trying to fully dry a car? What am I afraid to touch it? Lol.

My "issue" is just a personal one. I would really hate having to get an extension cord out every time I wash. Even with a 20' cord I couldn't get around either of our vehicles and thats IF they were in the garage. Im looking forward to trying out the 20v blower to see if it'll make me change my drying methods from a flood rinse and towel dry to flood rinse, blower and then touch up with a towel.

Nope, its too vertical of a panel.

The magnets and a towel work great and its fast. I've been thinking about sewing mini pockets that hold magnets so I can wash the towels...

Pretty much feel the same way. If they ever came out with a cordless, would be all over it...

I’m so used to having to get out my 50’ extention cord when I wash.. I don’t do it in the garage so I need it for the vacuum and the Sidekick.
