Looking for advise on new painted wheels

I'm about to purchase a new set of painted wheels for my Volvo S60. The Volvo throws so much brake dust that it is very difficult to keep the wheels clean. The factory wheels are all but trashed. The sides of the spokes are pitted and discolored (I think this is partly due to poor finishing at the factory since I have seen other Volvos with the same problem.)

Anyway, I'm looking for something I can put on the new wheels to help keep them clean. I was looking at DP wheel paste or Armor All Wheel Protectant. I'm looking for feedback, good or bad, about these products, or anything else that might work.

I use Poor Boys wheel sealant with good results.As far as your Volvo Wheels which ones do you have on it .And also do you use the factory brake pads.Volvo tend to produce more brake dust then other I've owned but just about the same as my vette.They do make a shield that goes between the rim and the rotor which reduces brake dust but also causes an increase in brake rotor temperature i would stay away from them.
 
They're factory 7 spoke painted wheels. I am planning on replacing them with Borbet 7 spoke wheels that look very similar to the factory wheels. I will keep the factor wheels for winter. I do have factory Volvo brakes.

Dp or Poorboys Wheel Sealants will help indeed, only other option is to move to ceramic pads as desired.
 
DP wheel Glaze once a month and wash with soap and water every week and you will be fine.

I know which wheel you have.I would try cleaning them first and try using one of the mentioned wheel products.Not sure if Posi Quite makes pads for Volvo's but they have a ceramic pad that has very low dusting and great stopping.What ever you do don't replace the pads with a full metallic pad they will eat your rotors up in no time and you will loose stopping distance.When it comes to Volvo's and brake pads there is a very fine line between finding a low dust pad and still retain full stopping.
 
Is a wheel sealant really needed or can you use dp sealant? Does it have to do with the wheel getting hot and thats why you would pick and wheel sealant over a regular one?
 
I would use a sealant (synthetic) over a carnauba based product for wheels specifically due to their heat and abuse. You certainly can use your sealant of choice, or the ones designed by Poorboys and DP specifically for them. No wrong choice, well except perhaps not using anything. (smiling)
 
After you put on the new wheels and get them protected why not try out some Ceramic Pads. They stop better and produce no dust.
 
i have found amor all wheel protectant spray to do a great job. i just put dp wheel glaze over it and was also impressed with that product. my mercedes brakes are like yours.

I haven't received my new wheels yet, but I have the DP Wheel Glaze. Which do you think works better, the armor all or DP?
 
i am using both with the amor all first. they just pop now. durability of the amor all by itself is about 2-3 weeks
