Looking for alternative ways to clean floor matts...

If they're really hammered, i'll vac them out, soak down with a high foam shampoo, agitate with a drill brush attachment, and then pressure rinse, repeat as needed. Let them dry out in the sun or vac them if need be.

Specific stains would get degreaser or appropriate cleaning agent prior to the above process. I'll mop

Check out the difference so far...

And I haven’t even touched them yet.lol.

Yeah, let me know when you think you've hit miracle like those light tan mats. ;)

I had to leave for the day so I didn’t get a chance to post any of the action pics, but here they are now.

After allowing the Renny Doyle Carpet Bomber dwell for a little while, I 1st hit it with some steam.

Next I scrubbed with the Mothers Upholstery Brush, then hit it with a stream... Straight from the hose of course.

Hanging vertically with a clamp worked much better.

Remember that super dirty little matt on the bottom left? The grime began to run off as soon as I hung it up even before spraying it down. Nasty. Lol.

Since upgrading with a Mytee Hp60 extractor my new process that takes the least amount of time and does the best job for really bad ones is vac off the loose stuff, spray liberally with super degreaser, agitate with brush head on the flex 3401 until they are slinging foamy goo then hot water extract.
I still hate the cheap o mats that have almost no worth when new, but if the mat was half decent quality to start with this really brings them back from the dead.

Do you still have to go over it over and over again with the extractor? Or is it super quik?

Using a squeegee? Why didn't I EVER think about that?

OUTSTANDING idea Eldo!

No, I make one slow pass with the standard wand head and they are pretty good to go, I've rubbed them with a white terry towel to make sure and 9 out of 10 times they are good. I also converted a heavy plastic table top that I lean on a wall and squeeze clamp the mats to it so they are pretty much vertical while doing all this, and that helps all the dirt, water, etc drain down and or fall out /off the mat while working on it instead of laying them flat and gravity working against you.

Once you have used the squeegee, how dry is it? Certainly faster than extracting, but how long does it take to dry afterwards?

What did you use? For not touching them that product looks like some form of magic:)

Sorry I hadn’t seen your post till now... The product is Renny Doyles Carpet Bomber @5:1

It’s funny because when I initially tried it I wasn’t impressed at all... But then I ran into some hammered matts and I decided to really spray it on heavy [since I didn’t care about wasting the product at that point + I had plenty of time to allow them to dry] Sprayed it on heavy and gave them a real long time to dwell before scrubbing them, and that’s when I 1st saw it happen. I couldn’t believe how it made the stains & dirt just vanish into thin air.

Now I know why he calls it Carpet Bomber. You really want to ‘bomb’ the carpet with this stuff and let it dwell, I’m talking like 7-10 min. Don’t follow the directions of the official youtube vids for this product [IMO those directions do this product a great disservice because you see the guy ‘spritz’ 2-3 times and let it dwell for just a short time]

After the 1st time getting those results I went on youtube to see if I could find any reviews for it and I found out the ragco. had just posted a video about this Carpet Bomber and low and behold they experienced the same exact results I had and they were in the same shock that I was in about how it seemed to work on its own and they’ve never seen anything quite like that! Lol.

Not as dry as you would think... If I had taken my Ridgid vac to them after the squeegee they would’ve been much further close to drying than the squeegee alone.. In this particular case the owner didn’t ‘need’ them back till this weekend, so I wasn’t in a rush for them to dry and just layed them out in the sun the way they were. I didn’t come back to them until after 2 days off them laying out and as expected they were dry.

The best news is that they were perfectly clean which was a nice surprise. I honestly didn’t think they were going to be that clean and I was expecting to have to have to scrub them at least once more before they were Really clean, but surprisingly they were all good and done.

Here’s a pic of the matts completely done.

I wasn’t sure about those carpet lines, so I vacuumed it once more to change the look.

All the pics in this thread make me cringe. I absolutely hate doing interior. Especially mats.

WeatherTechs, baby! Lol

I hate carpet lines too :) I just brush all the strands in the same direction so that the carpet has a uniform color to it.

Surprising that carpet bomber is that good. All the reviews I had seen were either average or bad. For the last few details I tried Tide (laundry detergent) at 10:1 dilution. Saw a Youtube video and the guy was raving about it. Not impressed at all. But I was using Meguiars D103 APC+ before, so maybe the bar was too high for a product like Tide. I heard Meguiars is planning to re-introduce D103 to the market. I really hope they do, that stuff is amazing. Was trying to save as much as I can I am down to about 20 ounces of concentrate.

I've used laundry soap but it's like a teaspoon for 20 oz of so...works pretty dang good

I don’t necessarily hate carpet lines, but IMO they need to be perfect in order for me to like them. I usually have a dedicated brush for them but I had improvise and use that brush to clean some wheel wells 1 day and therefore don’t have a carpet art brush right now.

What exactly makes D103 so different than D101?

D103 doesn't foam. So it's perfect for cleaning carpets and cloth seats. On leather I would rather have some suds, so other products are better for me.

Neither does D101. Lol. I guess I’m not missing out on anything.

Citrol 266 is the bomb for a ton of stuff.

I was never able to find Citrol in Canada. So about year ago I got Zep Citrus Degreaser. Just wow! I don't know if Citrol is better but Zep Citrus Degreaser is very effective on a lot of things. It's like Megs Super Degreaser on steroids. I use it mainly for removing bugs, removing road film and cleaning the nasty are on door Jambs. But I have used it to clean leather seat that nothing else could get clean. Tried it on tires... not super impressed, it works but not better than anything else.

It's also very inexpensive. Last year I purchased a Gallon of it for about 14 CAN$. When I went to home depot last time I checked if they had it in larger containers and they do. The 5 gallon size is 38 CAN$. I will run out shortly so that is what I will buy next.

Autogeek should carry Zep products. Many of their products are good. I have not seen any orange or citrus degreaser on the Autogeek store, and that type of product is a must for any detailing arsenal IMO. Just like they should think about carrying Hyet polishers. Only seen good comments about them and they are very affordable.

Will have to try Citrus degreaser on removable mats. I have not done that yet.

Citrol 266 is stronger than Zep. Sometimes too strong. I do not let it dwell for more than 30 seconds to a minute on anything. I've only found it in the spray can so can't dilute it. It can be a lifesaver at times though.

Thank you!

You know there’s something about those 3 pictures of the squeegee that makes them sort of interesting... If you stop and think about it, you might wonder how the heck did 3 pictures get taken so quickly during the same swipe?

How bout 4?

Some people already know how to do that... To others, you might think I must’ve had Lee Harvey Oswald taking the pics. Lol.

The reason I bring this up is because I just saw some pics from the Blackfire product page, and everytime I see pics like these it reminds me of something funny.

...A while back during Autogeeks California Roadshow which I attended, Mike was trying to get the perfect shot of RMD spraying the coating on the applicator, which led to Mike saying something like “ah I almost got it, try it again”

So that’s when I interrupted and told Mike “you know if you hold down the button it’ll take a burst of photos, and then you can pick the ones you want later”

He was like “ahh that’s pretty cool”

And that’s how this pic here came to be.. It was Mikes 1st perfectly timed action shot. You can see me smiling in the back, because it’s usually Mike showing others how to do things, but on this occasion I showed Mike how to do something new.Lol.
