There re a lot of products out there, and it can be a touch intimidating for a n00b.

So, let's pretend for a minute that I am newer than new when it comes to proper auto-detailing. Let's pretend that all I have in my kit is a bottle of Turtle Wax Ice, a bottle of Mequiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax, a bottle of Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover, 2 buckets and a huge stack of MF towels that I have done a fairly decent job taking care of.

What is a good kit to buy to get started properly caring for my cars? I am not looking to go into business. I am OK paying a pro to detail them for me a couple times a year. I just want to make sure I keep them up to snuff in between detailing.

Are there any differences in caring for "metallic" colors verses gloss colors? I have three vehicles to looks after, a pick-up truck, an SUV and sports car. Can I get one ring to rule them all?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

If your looking to maintain after detail, I recomend the Black Fire line.
Wash Shampoo, Waterless Wash, Rinseless Wash, Poly Seal, Quick Detail and then some Midnight Sun Wax.

wash ---- Optimum
wheel --- P21S
sealant --- Four Star UPP
polishes -- Menzerna
interior --- Ultima
tires -- Optibond
spray -- Optimums Car Wax

Duragloss car wash and all of the Chemical Guys washes are really good. I don't think you can beat the Chemical Guys for cost and results. Carpro TarX is the best tar specific cleaner I've found, but be sure to let it soak for a few. Megs APC will work for all your wheel, tire, trim and general tough stuff cleaning. Spray wax/drying aid is key and Carpo Reload and Prima Hydro are my favs. And Menz PowerLock is the easiest to use and nicest looking sealant I've used.
