I have a slightly bent front right wheel. Instead of paying $1000 for a new one, I was thinking about getting a new set of custom wheels. My price range is probably between $2000 and $3000. I've seen some nice forged wheels online for $4000 or more but that's little too much for me right now. Any suggestions on what might look good on this red c6 vette?

I'm shopping also for the LP640. Take a look at GFG wheels, very hot

Are those OEM wheels? If so, you might find some on Craig's list for cheap. Wheel styles are like colors, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Those are the OEM wheels. I've seen a set on craigs list but i don't want to risk getting another bent wheel or reproductions. I don't know much about custom wheels. Just looking for a reputable manufacturer in my price range.

Try True Forged Wheels. They are a new company run by a great guy named Steve. The wheels are made by the same company who makes the iForged, and others who put their branding on them. Based in Los Angeles and very customer friendly. I believe he is trying to break into the Corvette market as he started in the Mustang forums selling his wheels.

Mallett Cars make some very nice Vette wheels. In fact - they make my longstanding favorites...(only pic I could find - Berger Chevrolet also used these on their Camaro's).

They also now make their own rendition of the C6 Z06 wheels - they are pretty affordable:

Here is their site:

Forged is just expensive - not easy to attain for less than $4k.

You can get a used replacement wheel, probably in the $150-200 range if you shop around on Corvette Forum.

But, if you're set on getting aftermarket wheels...my first choice (if I had a C6) would be these LG Motorsport wheels.

Ooooh those ones on the Black Corvette (from the link Matt posted above) are HOT!

Contact Vince at Iforged ... CCW would be my only other choice and lost my business due to a nasty salesman.

true forged wheeels are sweet! i really like their designs. a guy on my local mustang board had them on his 01 bullit and they are sweet! the last pic is my fav and the whole reason i put 315's on the back of my car. but his shot came out alot better with the cobra irs set up and polished pipes.

FWIW

After having taught hundreds of classes on detailing cars and thus answering thousands of questions about how to clean wheels, here's what I like to mention to people considering purchasing new wheels.

Pick a wheel that's easy to clean.

Nobody likes cleaning wheels and the more intricate the design the more difficult to clean and the more time necessary to maintain.

Keep in mind that some wheels have multiple different types of surfaces, for example some portions may be polished aluminum while other portions are painted. If you pick a wheel with multiple types surfaces you just limited yourself to using very safe wheel cleaners and usually the safe wheel cleaner out of necessity are the weaker wheel cleaners.

Painted or clear coated wheels means you'll have to maintain the finish just like you would th paint on your car. Often times people with painted wheels find the have t clay them with detailing clay as brake particles embedded into the paint. You can probably imagine how much fun it is to clay a wheel, the use a paint cleaner on it and then wax it x 4.

The easiest wheels to maintain in my opinion are flat faced chrome wheels. Chrome is pretty much impervious to anything and as long as you keep the surface clean they won't rust or deteriorate.

My second pick is always polished, uncoated aluminum. While you have to stay on top of them and polish the aluminum or they will oxidize, at least you can work on them. You get any other kind of coated wheel and something goes wrong and it's usually out the skill level of most people to replace the coating should something go wrong.

I remember a gentleman bringing a BMW to a class once with the most complicated, intricate looking wheel design on his BMW and part of the class was for everyone to walk with me as we inspected each participants car and evaluated the condition of the paint. When we got to his car I looked at the wheels and asked him how long it took him to clean each wheel and he said about 45 minutes each. I asked him if he would recommend that wheel to someone else and he said no do to the difficulty in cleaning the wheel do to the design.

Just some things to think about...

:)
