For the past 3 years I have been using WG DGPS (original version) topped with Souveran. I have run out of both products and I am looking for recommendations on what I should use on my CX-7 (Platinum Gray) now. I am thinking of getting Ultima Paint Guard, would I need a wax on top of this? Any other recommendations are welcome.

I recently moved to Long Island NY from Puerto Rico. In PR my CX-7 spent most of its time in my covered garage, here in NY it spends all of its time outdoors (I don't have a garage to work in). Any product I get would have to be applied outdoors in the sun.

I am looking to take advantage of the current sale.

Two coats of Blackfire Wet Diamond topped with Collinite 845. Currently on one of my vehicles for this winter.

Menzerna Power Lock, Blackfire Wet Diamond and/or Collinite 845

Well pleased with Klasse HGSG and Collinite 845. Both need to go on thin. I apply Klasse by hand, multiple coats to assure coverage. Collinite with a blue LC pad.

Ultima Paint Guard Plus looks extraordinary all by itself especially after 2-3 applications. No need (or want) to top with wax in my estimation. I don't have information about applying in the sun. Since you need to work outside and get this done reasonably quickly that would be my choice.

There are so many great sealants to choose from here. I've personally tried the following with superb results.

Sealants

  • PRIMA Hydro-Seal
  • BlackFire Wet Diamond
  • Menzerna Power Lock
  • Ultima Paint Guard Plus
  • Klasse High Gloss Sealant

Can't beat Duragloss 105! Factor in price and it's no contest.
Wash, clay, Duragloss 601 followed by 105, wait 24 and another coat of 105.
Try it see if you're not impressed. Great thing is you haven't spent a ton if you aren't.

Love Menzerna, but, while I haven't tried them all, I LOVE Blackfire Wet Diamond I won't be changing seal products for a while. Having trouble even considering touching it with a wax.

I just tried the Poorboys EX Sealant and I really like it 32oz for 15 monies.Very easy to use product.I used it on my Liquid silver Mazda 3

The Poorboys claim about being sun friendly is no joke. Great glossy shine, and I get a pretty easy 3 months of durability.

I'm about to try a side by side with UPGP, 845 and a couple others, but for now it's PB

Thanks for the recommendations, I will make my decision today and let you guys know.
BTW I will be applying the sealant by hand.

I also really like Duragloss---great price and great longevity.

I decided to go with Menz PL and Collinite #845.
