Hi

I wanted to ask everyone's opinion; what would be a good product to use for clay lube as well as for wiping down a car between washes, that comes in a gallon container? I currently am using Meg's quik detailer but it is a small bottle and I am going through a 16 oz. bottle in no time flat. At $5.00+ a bottle that is adding up on me, that is why I am interested in something that works as well and comes in larger sizes.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use FK 425 that is cut 50% with distilled h20. It comes in gallon size. You could also go with DP Final Gloss which is also available in the gallon.

Hey, I use opitium rinseless wash, couple ounces in a gallon jug of distilled water, just read the label, can also use this product for rinseless wash did my truck in less than 30minutes.

Optimum No-Rinse wash and shine
Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine: Clean & shine with 1 gal. of water with Optimum's Rinseless Car Wash. clay lubricant, optimum waterless wash, no rinse

DP 4-in-1 Rinseless wash and shine
DP Four-In-One Rinseless Wash & Shine - Four exceptional car care products in one bottle all you need is a gallon of water!

Ive never used either, hope to give the Optimum a try very soon. But both of these come highly recomended from most forum members.

both also come in gallon sizes

If you don't feel like mixing Poorboys Spray & Wipe is great. I use it for clay lube and to clean the car up.

So, I use optimum wash, whick one would you guys reccommend? Never tryed DP rinseless wash.

I use water for clay lube, works fine. :)

DP 4-in-1 or ONR. I use ONR, but would like to try some 4-in1. ONR can be used as QD, clay lube, and of course, no-rinse wash.

I use the 4n1 and would like to try the ONR. Always mix with distilled H2O. :righton:

:iagree: distilled water or deionized water.

I also vote for ONR. Recently discovered that product and was really amazed by it.

DP 4 in 1=Clay lube or QD depending on dilution ratios.

Is soft water fine? (salt-filtered in the house)

Or reverse osmosis filtered water?

Or is distilled still the best choice?

I wouldn't use the tap. Since you're only making a bottle or so at a time, just pick up a bottle of water at the grocery store. Most bottled water is either distilled or reverse osmosis filtered.

Hi,

Just did my first detail with Meguiars products and I am very impressed with the results. Used detailing clay, #80 which is for light swirls and finished with #21 which is a poly sealant. Didn't have a chance to post pics yet, will follow with some.

DP 4-in-1, or Optimum No-Rinse would be my choices for ecomonical, yet effective QD/Clay lube. As for clay lube I'd add about 1/2 oz of a good soap (Pinnacle, Poorboy's SS&S) to 16 oz bottle of clay lube mix to aid lubricity. Clay lube only, no QD.
