Looking to buy new DA, need advice

I just thought those were interesting numbers. For a guy to close 20,000,000 dollar deals geez 10% is 2 mil 5% is 1 mil 1% is 200k.

Why detail on the side ? If you do these kind of deals ?

HMMMMMMMM, my thoughts exactly. The deal closer gets the commission, at least that's how it works in my world. And if I closed a deal like that, well I'd be retiring next week!

Custmsprty thanks!

I might add that, all business is global, find the cheapest place to mfg. So to make max dollars. US corporations are global, they want you to believe, that made in America, is better, while actually manufacturing the product, wherever is cheapest.

At one point in time I worked for Sears Catalog, we had this made in America, campaign. US flags everywhere, but in the warehouse, the boxes were clearly marked made in China. Companies are not loyal to America, there loyal to the dollar.

Well, my Samsung tv is made in China. My iPhone is made in China. The shocks, and brake calipers on my 2014 mazda 3 are made in China. So I don't think made in China is 100% is going to tell you hey you are getting an inferior item. Heck I went shopping for shoes the other day, everything is made in china even a Cole Han. I guess I need to look around in my local area and see if I can try a rupes, g21, Flex 3401 vrg.

If anyone owns both polishers a g21 and a flex 3401 vrg, what are your opinions about both machines?

Yeah, I bought some CH's a few tears ago, they were made in the USA, which I knew before I bought them. Bought some others recently, actually made in India!

That's insane, I never thought to even look thinking anything Samsung would be made in S. Korea. I just bought a new LG refrigerator, I guess I better go look at the label!

I just think it's poor to bash a product or service that a person whose doing the bashing it has never used themselves.

OMG!!!

My Brand New S. Korean LG refrigerator is made in China! LOL!!!

So now that's all been worked out, & China, India & wherever can make fine products, depending on design & materials called for:

Should I upgrade my ancient G110? and Why?

hehehe no doubt. The LG Samsung thing blows my mind! Considering the Chinese backed the North during the war and have continued to for all these years. The South Korean mega companies have no problem letting the Chicoms make their stuff. Like you said, it's a global economy and when it comes down to all the political bs and what not it's about the all mighty $$$$$.

PS my college degree: International Studies, Minor in US Military History.

Touching on something that Swanic said about GG about them not making cutting edge products or being innovators. This is just my opinion but to me it seems like putting out cutting edge products kind of along the lines of Carpro's product lineup is not really their thing. It seems like they just try and make good quality consistent products and the focus is really on customer service.

If you have ever looked at their catalogue it seems like they are trying to appeal to the well off car collectors who hang out in their garage or just the car culture in general. I think a lot of their customers would just be confused with any kind of coating type product.

Custmsprty - Stands to reason that S. Korea, would outsource mfg. to the country that costs less to mfg. Just like USA! They like we have stock exchanges that reward, the most profitable companies.

Design what you want, then outsource to Vietnam, China, India, Mexico, bring the finished product to the USA for sale, backed by the designers warranty. We have to accept globalization, this is not the Ozzie & Harriet days.

First "shock" denial, then realization, then acceptance, then higher standard of product.

I can remember made in Japan or S. Korea were junk products, now very fine products.

LG motto Life's Good, before that LG was "Lucky Goldstar", they made crappy, cheap products. Oh yeah somewhere in between they dropped Lucky & went by just "Goldstar"

If anyone owns both polishers a g21 and a flex 3401 vrg, what are your opinions about both machines?

I have both and they are both extremely well made. The Flex gets really hot, but it is a workhorse. Handles curves wonderfully with many different types of pads. The major downside is that it has the feel of wanting to take off. It is a little tricky to learn how to control it. The G21 is soooooo smooth. I have only used it with the 5" backing plate and GG BOSS pads. It finishes well, and the long throw means it works fast. You could get the same results from each machine. The BOSS is smoother but the Flex handles curves better.

I think why so many people are leaning towards the G21 now instead of the Rupes comes down to a couple of factors.

1. The G21 comes from a company that most people are already familiar with and has a reputation for great customer service. Now do not take that statement to mean that Rupes does not have good customer service, I have never bought one of their products so I don't have any personal experience with them. Also I haven't read hardly anything about their CS one way or the other on the forums.

2. Lifetime Warranty is another big selling point. But what does a lifetime warranty actually mean? In my opinion it just means that they are hopefully going to stand behind their product. If you take that lifetime warranty as a stamp of quality well then the marketing is working.

3. The G21 can accept different size backing plates and as far as I know the rupes can not.

4. If you are comparing the specs of the two machines most people will consider the higher power motor as a plus.

So I currently own the HF DA, while it works quite well in regards to correction it leaves my hands tingly and numb after a day of polishing. I am stuck between a Flex 3401 vrg and a griots boss 21. So here are the requirements, The smoothest in regards to use! I also heard that the long throw DAs don't require any downward pressure, that would be a major plus. Is that true?? Please let me know and thanks for all your help.

If the smoothest operation is your highest priority, hands down the Griot's Garage G21 is going to beat the Flex 3401 in that area. Long-throw polishers like the Rupes and new Griot's line are the go to polishers for smoothness and the handling will be more familiar for users upgrading from a smaller DA like the Harbor Freight. The forced rotation aspect of the Flex 3401 brings in a new element to handling the polisher that takes a slightly longer amount of time to get used to, and it will also not be smoother on the hands compared to those long-throws.

Just so you all know, I had some Chinese food the other night, and it was made in Limerick PA - USA !!!! So, there..

Flex is king of curves, will just keep spinning/rotating no matter what, coupled to the shorter 8mm throw and 5" LC Hybrids makes it nicer for tighter areas.

I just down graded to a HF DA. I had a bunch of tools stolen. In those tools was a collection of DA's and rotatory's. While none of the stolen tools were current absolute state of the art. There was still a a lot of money tied up in them. I have always worked my own cars and use to do a fare amount of side work on cars, aircraft and boats until a bad back and a pile of hernias took me out of the game. :(

I recently started rehabbing our 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid. The paint has every defect you can imagine. Being a 500+ mile a week driver and always parked outside it's really in bad shape. While using the HF DA and Rotary I had a moment of wanting to slap myself for spending the money I had invested in the so called better tools. I do miss the GG 3", but not enough to order a new one. I just changed the back plate out real fast and went to work on the smaller area's.

OP I would say invest your money in a better pad and product selection and buy some gloves that help with vibration damping.

Did you have a Flex 3401 or a g21 or rupes stolen?

OP, if you can, wait till after SEMA show. Flex is supposed to come out with another polisher and Rupes may do several upgrades to theirs.
