Looking to pick up a new Sealant

I bought that product and tossed it .

:iagree::dblthumb2: So did I.

Y'all tossed UPGP? I haven't used the new version, but I used the original version on my mother's car and it was still going strong at two years. Had to polish the car because of scratches. I did a full correction on the car, put two coats on and the stuff wS incredible. About as close to a coating I've seen from a sealant. It was on single stage paint, I often wondered if that had something to do with it.

I have sliver car too. I use Collinite 845. Nice shine, repels water very very well. But with time shine dulls down + have had issues with durability for some reason. Could be high temperatures (+40C). People living in colder areas have had excellent results with 845.

Collinite 476s is quite durable and is paste wax. It can stored for long time.

Finishkare 2180: Use this one in summers. Quite glossy. Anti static at start and more slick than 845. My only problem with this one is that it doesn't last long.

PS: I'm on a lookout for new sealant too. Two products that I zeroed are Wolfgang Paint sealant 3.0 and Finishkare 1000P wax. Both have synthetic formula based. For lazy guy like me, I like products that apply and forget it. :D

Swift, you are in the exact same spot as me. Did we just become best friends?

FWIW, I just tried the Wolfgang paint products for the first time, and finished with dgps 3.0. All the products impressed me, but the ease of application and removal of the sealant blew me away! If the longevity is anywhere close to what they claim and others have reported, I am sold. Looks awesome as well.

After reading a ton, and the AG sale (Wolfgang discounts) plus an additional 10% with the coupon code, I went with a bottle of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant! I got my bottle shipped for only $36. Thank you all for your help and I will let you know how I like it as I will apply it in mid to late October in hopes it will last during our Chicago winter.

Both cars are garaged at night.

cars are washed on average 2x a month and a quick wax is used when drying).

My most recent sealant was Blackfire Wet Diamond but my 3 year old bottle has separated, so it's time for something else.
I also don't like that the Wolfgang 3.0 has to cure for 12 hours. I think they say don't apply at night as dew in the morning may prevent it from fully curing. I would always worry about that......
A few quick questions first:

•With what product(s) are you washing the vehicles?
•What Quick Wax are you using when drying?
-Is this Quick Wax, then, providing the "protection"?

•Have you dutifully allotted for the manufacturer's
recommended cure-time of the Blackfire Sealant
you've been using?
-With both vehicles being garaged at night...
Ruling out Sealants, based solely on their cure-time,
seems a little impetuous to me.

Note:
•Trying to purchase an appropriately-sized packaged
amount of a Sealant...even when based upon its
anticipated usage...can lead to situations where the
end of its shelf-life has, unfortunately, been reached.

-However...
I see no need to discount the otherwise more
than acceptable characteristics of any given
Sealant due to that happenstance.

Thank you professor. After doing some research, I decided that a 12 hour cure time will be ok and I will just have to make sure I can apply the sealant around noon thus giving it the required cure time.

Thank you professor.

After doing some research...
I feel that emphasizing that I may have authority, in
this manner, is: Antithetical in the pursuit of
detailing-research.

I do realize that:
Addressing someone on a first-name basis
(or even by their "forum-name")...may depend
upon the customs of the addresser's locale.

And, just as a FYI:
I don’t assign busywork…ever! :D

Duragloss 105.
Hands down the best for the price.
$10.00 bucks or so

If you want to get a full year out of it get the Duragloss 605 Bonding Agent and mix together.

Easy on, easy off!

Collinite is just a awesome product plain and simple.Tell me what sealant is gonna perform like that in 4 months, and detergent proof .with proper washing u can get 5 months out of it.i wish they came out with a spray wax that performs somewhat like it,that would be the million dollar jackpot.

Im on 6 months plus in florida with it. Super impressed. Was using BFWD and really liked it but this last longer where I live

Is it showing any sign of weakening? Curious because as I mentioned I used it on single stage paint. I don't know how long it would have lasted. As I mentioned the only reason I polished it off at two years was because of scratches. Did you put two coats on?

I think you'll find that fk1000p will outlast the collinites under the exact conditions on the same paint. But imo, the difference is more about fk1000p's sheeting and self cleaning than longevity.

everyone has there preference, collinite has such a hydrophobic quality there's nothing on the market that will perform like it ,besides a coating, and it's cheap, the best way to test some of these products is to use them in the house, for instance the shower glass ,I put rain x on it it lasted 3 days,I put collinite fleet wax on it and lasted for 4 weeks ,and tried the coating which is not intended for glass it didn't last at all ,hair shampoo has a high ph .and for some weird reason nothing protects marble I think it's porous ,works for two days then gone .

I even tried to polish Formica with da and polish and the heat generated a dull appearance which as of today still can't fix even by hand.

Personally, I really like "Griots Garage One Step Sealant " it works really well and lasts (if prepped and applied correctly). Being a one step, it also has paint correction qualities, removing fine swirls and scratches, restoring the color, clarity and depth. It also contains no fillers or BS, so the results are true, not simply cover-up.

For added protection and shine, I layer Griots' "Best of Show Wax" (it's like butter ) on top of the sealant and the results are incredible. I think one of the most important steps, prior to applying the sealant, is to clay bar the paint, removing any/all contaminates. Doing so also eliminates any residue left over from previous applications of wax, detailer, etc, giving the sealant a truly clean surface to adhere to, assuring its effectiveness.

It's good stuff....
