Greetings all. I’m completely new to modern day detailing. I’m just an average Joe who likes to keep a clean vehicle. For decades I’ve used traditional wax products that I apply by had with the pad that comes with it, wait for it to haze, then buff it off by hand with a towel. Between my 3 vehicles and my wife’s 1, my shoulders and elbows are not what they use to be and it’s getting harder and harder to maintain. Plus my newer pickups have far more painted body surface than they used to meaning I have more area to do. I live in the upper Midwest with long winters so just wax all vehicles twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. I don’t do any fancy wipes or treatments between waxings. These are not show cars. The last few years I have been using Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax.

I have a couple questions for the group:

(1) Is there an easier, more efficient power tool for removing the wax/polish after I apply it? I also would be interested in applying it with a power tool but it’s the removal that is the most work. I don’t want to do any paint correction, I just want to simply remove and possibly apply normal wax/polish a few times per year, nothing fancy.(

(2) What wax/polish product(s) do you recommend I use? I have read on here all the many different options but have no idea where to start.

Like I said, I’m just a regular Joe so I don’t need anything too fancy but I do know the difference between a quality product and crap. What’s left of my shoulders would really appreciate an easier process.

Thanks for any replies.

If you aren't looking to correct, just about any polisher can apply/remove wax.

But, why not do some light correction AND protect in one step? A cleaner wax (also called an AIO or All In One) can be applied with a polisher.

I would recommend getting a P7424XP, or for a bit more power, the Griots Garage 6" polisher.

The products I would look into would be HD Speed (the AIO. Corrects, and adds wax at the same time). Most will then top that for even better protection. Look into HD Poxy.

Look into spray on sealants to start off with
like car pro hydro2
Geyon and many others make them
will not get any easier than that

Thanks guys. I've been watching some videos and learning what I can about this stuff and it seems it's almost endless the products and options available. Hard to even know where to start. I could just go the spray sealant route which seems easy. Or I could get a motorized polisher and apply an AIO cleaner wax. I just want to keep it simple. I have no problem getting a DA motorized polisher but have no idea on what pads I would need and what wax/polish/coating to use. I just want to wax/polish our daily drivers twice a year. Is there a simple way to figure all this out without going overboard? Thanks!

I just put two coats of Rupes P808 on my MINI after polishing. Nothing could be easier. Spray on, wipe with microfiber, final wipe with plush microfiber towel, and stand back and admire! I can't speak to it's longevity, but it's very easy to work with.
