Greetings all. I’m completely new to modern day detailing. I’m just an average Joe who likes to keep a clean vehicle. For decades I’ve used traditional wax products that I apply by had with the pad that comes with it, wait for it to haze, then buff it off by hand with a towel. Between my 3 vehicles and my wife’s 1, my shoulders and elbows are not what they use to be and it’s getting harder and harder to maintain. Plus my newer pickups have far more painted body surface than they used to meaning I have more area to do. I live in the upper Midwest with long winters so just wax all vehicles twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. I don’t do any fancy wipes or treatments between waxings. These are not show cars. The last few years I have been using Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax.
I have a couple questions for the group:
(1) Is there an easier, more efficient power tool for removing the wax/polish after I apply it? I also would be interested in applying it with a power tool but it’s the removal that is the most work. I don’t want to do any paint correction, I just want to simply remove and possibly apply normal wax/polish a few times per year, nothing fancy.(
(2) What wax/polish product(s) do you recommend I use? I have read on here all the many different options but have no idea where to start.
Like I said, I’m just a regular Joe so I don’t need anything too fancy but I do know the difference between a quality product and crap. What’s left of my shoulders would really appreciate an easier process.
Thanks for any replies.
