I have noticed we lost a few members since the change from vBulletin to XenForo (I'm thinking Eldorado2K and Klasse Act, but I'm sure there are others). Do we think they just gave up on the forum or aren't here because TapaTalk doesn't work with XenForo?

I know DFB tried to contact Klasse during the "blackout", but didn't get a response. Deyon and I kept in contact through Instagram, but if Klasse was cut off completely, he could have ended up in the funny farm, joking of course, but he posted more than any of us, and is still the number one poster on the forum.

Tapatalk is so so convenient. It seems like a step backward to switch to this forum style. Whatever, it’s not the end of the world.

I'm getting used to this. I was getting a bit annoyed with the amount of ads appearing on Tapatalk, and the way they popped up just as you started reading. I know I could have gone premium, but how annoying would it have been to pay, then they take the forum off it. I know it can be used for other forums, but there's just so many idiots out there.

I've never used Tapatalk since the forums I most frequent aren't on there, and even if they are the mobile version is fine for me. The new mobile version of this site though is worlds better than not having one at all on the old version.

Is it possible that these "lost members" have been trying to get on with Tapatalk, and don't realize the forum is back up with different software?

I don't know anything about Tapatalk as I've never used it.

When it didn't work through Tapatalk I tried the web version, as it recommends on Tapatalk, so I'm hoping they're smart, or eager, enough to try multiple platforms to get on.

Flash, I hope you're wrong, but I gotta say, I don't make those jokes anymore, the older we get the more likely it is to be true. I was once asked where one of my co-workers was, and I said "I don't know, for all I know he's dead", and he was, his daughter rang me half an hour later and said he died in front of the TV the night before. Only 58, but a heavy smoker. I do know that he would have found it funny that I said that, he would have been laughing at me.

So, I got onto Klasse via my Youtube channel. I mentioned that the forum was up and running again, but he couldn't log on with Tapatalk. I've never used that platform, always on my PC, which I thought he would do the same. I also tried reaching out via the PM portal in the hope he would see my message via email notification, but I haven't heard back. I'm guessing a lot of people have just given up because of the lack of Tapatalk, which is a great shame. Rodger's enthusiasm is certainly missing from the discussion.

I'd guess that someone has other contact info for Klasse. I'll admit I'm visiting less on my phone since it's now a mobile website instead of using Tapatalk.

i had not tried on my phone so good to know now phone friendly.

I think a few members were lost, I think it was for a couple reasons. First, there were a few that were predicting the doom of the forum for months/years and probably took the outage here as a self-fulfilling prophecy and declared it dead...even thought it wasn't and there were clear signs progress was being made to bring up something new (though that might not have been noticeable if you only access the forum on Tapatalk). Second, I do think some like Klasse almost exclusively accessed the forum forum from their phones and if this software doesn't interface with Tapatalk, then they may be gone for good. Unfortunate.

I never access the forums from my phone unless I'm trying to upload a picture. I don't mind this software and it looks similar to other non-detailing forums I frequent. The fact it isn't available from a phone app doesn't bother me at all. I don't like consuming valuable written content in large quantities on my phone anyway.

On a positive note, I did notice it looks like they are still making improvements from a cosmetic and interface standpoint. That combined with the fact they appear to be clearing out all the SPAM seems to be a good sign. Now if we could get a moderator who actually participates on the forum, we'd be in pretty good shape.

Yes, they keep tweaking things, but not everything is an improvement from my perspective. The "What's New" was working perfectly, once I figured it out--clicking on the title brought you to the first unread post, clicking on the time of the last post brought you to the last post, if you refreshed "What's New", that thread that you just looked at would no longer be bold. Now they stay bold...so it's hard to tell "What's New", i.e., what you've read already.
