Well, Howdy from just north of New Orleans. I'm a newbie to detailing.

Never had a nice car. Just trucks, Tahoes and Suburbans. Drive-through car washes.

But, I went nuts last week and bought a '99 Mercedes SL500. Yes, it's 15 years old. It's black, in great shape, with a touch under 35,000 miles. I want to keep it looking good, so I'm here. Actually, I don't have it, yet. Bought it when I was visiting Kansas City a week ago (found it on Craigslist). Had to leave town, so we fly back in two weeks and drive it back to the North Shore.

I do own a Cyclo polisher and a tub full of Collinite products. Those are for the boat and the Beech Bonanza. :dblthumb2:

So, I'm trying to sort out the various products and techniques. Sealants versus wax, etc.

Let the learning begin!

Tom

It'll be two weeks before I can retrieve the car from Kansas. Don't want to post the photos from Craigslist. I can do better than that. ;)

Pix will be shot on the trip home.

Fellow Louisianian (from South of Lafayette). You will have to show some pics, review the a bunch of product threads and do a lot of experimenting. I can tell you that we have the advantage of high humidity which does help the work time we have with some of the products, but we are cursed by the heat and humidity for others like waxes and some sealants.

In any case, welcome to the forum!

Thanks, Claude (my Dad's name). I'm in Covington.

I'm a camera hound, so I'll take some good photos of the car when I get it back to Bayou Country. The paint is very good, but it does have swirls. (Black car.) I'll get to work on that when it arrives.
