Love the meguiars brand, but maybe want to try some new correction fluids

In my opinion, with a 3401 and MF or Purple Foamed Wool...M100 is every bit as good as FG400

On LC Orange Foam, I give a slight edge to FG400

With CarPro Denim OP Removal Pads; M100 is the clear winner


PRICE:

FG400 = $50 for 32oz

M00 = $59 for a Gallon !!!

Winner as in what cut ?

Finishing ability?

Price point?

You mention that with a mf pad and a wool pad m100 wins as in cut ?

You can pair ultimate compound with a wool pad and mf pad and get pretty good cut as those are agressive pads.


Fg400 is good enough on some paints to be a one step and a non detailer would see it as perfect.

Fg400 finishes like no meguiars compound can dream of.

M100 m101 m105 d300 all do the job and well but fg400 is in a class of its own compared to thosr compounds as well as fg400 being easier to use and less dusting.

The work time with fg400 and the easy wipe off never made me want to go back to 105 100 or 101

I still use them for wetsanding removal or headlight restoration.

FG400 costs almost twice as much as M100 for a Quart. As expressed above, you can spend $59 and get a gallon vs. $50 for a quart of FG400

M100 performs better on LC Hybrid Wool and PFW. The FG400 clumps up the fibers and hazes excessively

When used properly, M100 buffs off easier than FG400, because it is less oily, but I could really care less about the oil being left behind BC I am going to follow with polish anyway

"LSP Ready" with FG400 is not good enough for me. The improvement made by following with a polish is too much for me to skimp on the additional step

I really don't care how a Compound "Finishes" as I am never finished after the compounding step. M100 cuts faster and the M100/M205 Combo is much more time efficient than FG400/SF4000


I Challenge you to a full-hood correction Polish Off!

First you say that m100 is every bit as good as fg400


And then you say that you give a edge on a orange pad to fg400

Then you say m100 only is a clear winner with denim pads ? Lol

Its obvious your going to have more cut with a SMAT then a DAT polish

So you saying a aggressive pad with a more aggressive compound has more cut is a given ?

When m100 can do that in one step let me know that looks LSP ready.

M100 is more temperature sensitive as all meguiars products are and dust more.

I pick fg400 everytime unless im removing 1500 sanding marks i use SMAT

Also you say m100/205 is more of a time saver

Yet you admit that fg400 finishes better lol.

The better your first step finishes the less you have to do in the polishing step.

With fg400 when i remove all the damage at that point i just focus on achieving gloss i dont have to look with a inspection light to see if i took out the compound swirls.

I do one section pass with sf4k and i know im done.

I too still polish after my compound unless my customer isnt paying for that particular set if a one step polish wasnt doing the trick.

Have you tried PF2500 as a one step? I had great results pairing it with a Tangerine Hydrotech pad on a PC.

When i first used it i was amazed at how good it cut !

I want a menzerna banner to hang in my shop really am a big fan !
 
I have the same problem too with m105. I found that cleaning your pads and misting your work space with water works but unfortunately there will be some light dusting none the less. The ultimate compound series isn't as powerful and fast as the m105, although that too has some light dusting. I'd strongly recommend giving the (3M " perfect-it" EX 1 ) a try. I use this product on a everyday bases and it's amazing. Cuts fast and leaves no dust. 3m offers a 3 step kit, cut, polish and wax. I would also consider using "jet sealant" by chemical guys as a 3rd step before coating a wax.

I bought 100's of dollars on CM products but they seem to lack empathy for their consumers. Honestly, there shouldn't really be a need for 8 to 10 kinds of polishing pads and 6 kinds of compounds and polishes lol.

I'm not the biggest fan of FG400 or SF4000. The only two Menzerna products I have tried. I can deal with the strong solvent smell with them (who doesn't like huffing some good fumes from time to time?)

But for some reason it gets gummy on me real quick. Could be climate, I don't feel like it is the paint, because it has done it on multiple cars with various paints.

Maybe it has a shorter buffing cycle than I think it does?

M100 is worlds better than M105 for work time and how well it finishes. I was surprised by it. Haven't really seen much dusting out of it like M105 either. :xyxthumbs:

Are you working outside ?
What was the climate?
What pad was you using ?

Fg400 can gum up on a hot day it happened to me in my shop.

But it works wet and has a long buffing time. So you have not really seen what its capable of doing yet.

Go on youtube and type autogeek fg400 and you will see how long mike phillips works it and how amazing it finishes.

Some cars and paints dont like menzerna tho it all depends on what kind of paint your using.

But it is nothing short of an amazing product.
