Hi all, as some of you many know i am looking for an low vibration altenative to the PC and UDM. I first thought that the only solution was to go to a rotary, but i just wasnt ready to risk it. Thanks to the help of some fourm members, i have discovered that there are some ultra low vibration random orbitals out there, some of which are the festool: RO 150 FEQ, ETS 150, etc. I am looking for suggestions, recomendations, and personal expiences. for right now lets pretend that money is no object.

I am looking at making a decision some time with in the next day or two, so i could use some real help.Feed back please
 
I have already seen that thead, i was looking at the festool 150 FEQ, and the ETS 150. Just want to gather more info before i spend the cash. any one used the ETS 150?

Funny, it worked for me, that is how I found info on it when I was looking into it. Or you are one of those that would like others to do homework for them?

The Festool RO 150 FEQ from everything I've read and researched is an incredible machine. The ETS 150 from what I can tell wouldn't be a consideration for a polisher. It has the 3/16" stoke but has no rotary motion. The motor is also far superior in the RO150FEQ nearly tripling the amps of the ETS150. Another problem with the ETS is it operates 6000-10500 orbits per minute. My guess is it would create some problems for pad backing. There is a RO 125 which has much the same specs of the RO150FEQ except it is powered by a 4.2amp motor instead of the 6amp motor in the RO150FEQ. It also has some other changes. For me if I am going to pony up enough for 125, I will pick in the extra $80 and get the beast. I would also like to research the Makita BO6040.

Thank you, i was not aware that the ETS operated at such high OPM's, i agree, it would not be a good polisher. I am not sure that i need 6 ampers of the 150, 4.2 of the 125 might be enough.
 
I found a store near me that sells the rotex 125, i am going to take a look at it soon. One thing i dont like about the 125 is that it only has a 3.6mm orbit, compared to the 5mm orbit of the 150. Does any one have any other tools that they would recomend?

With 4 amps and orbit better than 3.6mm? UDM :D

That is a reason why I passed on 125.
 
I thought the 125 would vibrate less than the UDM. BTW just wanted to tell every one why i am so afraid of vibrations, its this thing called Vibration White Finger (VWF) "For years vibration overexposure has shortened many careers, causing irreversible damage to workers' nerves, muscles, bones, joints, and blood flow". Working 6 hours with a PC can give you VWF, "Using a tool that vibrates slightly for a long time can be as damaging as using a heavily vibrating tool for a short time. " Plus there are alsorts of other damage vibrations can do. Even if you feel ok now, doesnt mean there is no damage being done, most people feel it when they get older, even if they havent used power tools in years. It can really screw up your life.

I understand your concern and yes, 125 will vibrate less than UDM but if it ends up correcting less than UDM point will be worthless so that is why I skipped 125 and focused on 150. Only other choice I was considering was Flex XC 3401 VRG . For approximately same price it has more amps than 150 (7.5 vs. 6), higher OPMs (3200-9600 vs. 3300-6800), lower RPMs though (160-480 vs. 320-660), and bigger stroke (8mm vs. 5mm), but it is not available in States yet. However, I will be keeping my eyes open for it because it has been developed specifically for automotive polishing.

Thats what i want! the 3401 vrg! So i tried to find a place online to buy it, but the only place i found was some french site, i dont even know if they would ship it here. I guess unless i find something better i will go pick up a festool 150. :)

Even if they would ship it it wouldn't work here anyway. Different power outlers, different voltage. From what I am told it is not available in the States yet.

Last time I called them they were saying July timeframe. Why don't you try calling them and see are there any news on that? Please post what you found.
 
If you want low vibration, I think there is only one to get... Cyclo! The two heads moving in oposite directions pretty much cancels out vibrations. Great machine!
