Hello,

I am going to be polishing a friends BMW Z4 and I want to give her a nice long lasting coat of protection.

I have narrowed down my LSP to using either:

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal followed by a coat of Fuzion (because why not).

Or, Collinite 845.

I already have these products so its not like the cost of them is a factor. I know the shine will be amazing with any of the above combos.

I wonder which one will offer the longest protection since I wont be maintaining it.

Just curious for opinions. I know she will be more impressed by the wax in the wood box :)

Going to do a one step...will do a few test spots to determine my pad / product combination. My hunch is M205 with a blue Hydrotech pad.

cyan (blue) hydrotech is a cutting pad. If anything it should be tangerine hydro with M205...

Wolfgang if you great looks.

Collinite if you want to trade some looks for durability.

I can't speak to WDGLS specifically but I did make an interesting observation on the Collinite 845 yesterday.

I have a supply of 845 and also DG 111. I couldn't decide which to use on my white car, so I polished the hood and then did a 50/50 with these 2 products. Visually I could see no real difference, figured I would give them a little time for a durability test since we're still experiencing regular rain here in the Pacific NW.

When I hopped in the car the next day I immediately noticed that the hood had a distinct yellow tint which was obviously caused by pollen. I further noticed that it was MUCH heavier on the 845 side of the hood. In fact, I could even see lines where I had slightly overlapped the 111 (applied second) over the 845. I recall reading that a wax will attract more pollen than a sealant, but wow this was a dramatic illustration of that. I meant to snap a few pictures but of course, it started raining before I did so.

I don't know what the pollen situation in Florida is this time of year, but I have concluded that here in my neck of the woods I will probably go with a sealant during spring-summer. I can save the 845 for pre-winter prep, or perhaps for my classic car when I am looking for some extra pop.

That's my really long winded way of saying I'd go with a quality sealant over a quality wax if/when pollen is an issue.

We do not have a pollen issue in South Florida, so thats not a concern but definitely an interesting observation.

I'll probably go with the Wolfgang combo. This way I can use the $175 wax in the wooden box...the cool points will be worth it!
