Can you get the same amount of gloss and shine from a machine by applying product by hand?

Technically, yes. It should not matter for a lsp that contains no abrasives. I prefer ones that spray on for ease of application, either hybrids or sealants.

For cleaner waxes and AIOs, a machine will give better results quicker.

Note: Some OTC "wax" products contain abrasives like Meguiars White Wax, Black Wax, and many others.

why not let the machine (DA) do all the work for you, it evenly distributes and pushes the LSP into the paint across the whole diameter of the pad and covers more ground as well...

Since going from hand to machine, the process is so much faster and you get a thinner and even distributed coat down which makes it so much easier to remove .. Let the machine do the work

If there's no cleaner or abrasiveness in the product then there's no difference. However a nice machine will allow for the product to be applied more evenly and thinner which saves products and insures easy removal.
