hWhat do you guys best recommend as the lsp over souveran besides crystal mist? If I use crystal mist every time I wash it - well, let's just put it this way, I have to finish paying it off!! LOL
So it has souveran on it. I use AW and it looks streaky at first, but goes away and later looks fine.
I tried QS for the first time and wow - was that a superior application - wiped right up, no rewiping or inital smearing. Looked great too!

Is this me?
Is it the carnuba wax on the car?
Is this how they always are?Feed back please

Fell in love with the quickshine...and now ag doesn't have it...
but anyway, what is the issue here? should i use a different product?
thanks for your input in advance!

If you want a similar product against QS, DG Fast Clean and Shine rocks, I haven't used my QS or Spray and Gloss in over a month since really using it now. I've used AW over carnauba w/o streaking, I actually have it topping Natty's Blue right now on my truck, went on and off easily like it always does, streaking comes from applying it a little too thick in spray.

Somebody on another board topped Souv with AW and liked the look, most would say Crystal Mist, but Quickshine, DG FCS etc would be fine as well. Then just apply Souv monthly and your good to go.

Lauren, I don't know all that much, but the guys keep talking about bonding issues putting a sealant over a wax. Think that AW is a spray sealant type. Know what you mean about using the Crystal Mist each time you wash. I'm doing the same thing to my wife's car that has Souveran on it.

I have used CM over Souveran and it looks real good, but looses it slickness very quickly.

Picked up some AW locally and put in on Saturday night. It still has the same gloss and slickness as when I first put it on. It doesn't seem to have any trouble bonding. Definitely a better deal the CM at less then half the price. I'll still keep both around though.

Try spraying smaller amounts of AW..There shouldn't be no problem using AW over Souveran..if you have FC&S use it before you apply AW remember a small spritz per panel..

Crystal Mist, Duragloss AquaWax, QuikShine, FK 425 are my favorite QDs. You just can't go wrong with any of them.

Hey Lauren,

I've had success with AW and FK425 over Souveran. If you're getting streaking, try less product. It really takes a minimal mist of AW to get the job done. Likewise with FK425.

I initially over-applied both of these when I started using them, which resulted in a bit of streaking. Once I began misting smaller amounts per panel, and making sure to flip the MF to the dry side after distributing on the panel, all's been wonderful with both.

Quikshine, FK 425, and of course CM (buy larger size, more cost effective)

CK QS is imo the easyest to apply on the car, but i also like te DG AW alot. Juts dont do the same mistake i did and apply too much of the AW. One spray at each panel is more than enough to get it glossy again.

I prefer applying the AW on a dryed car, the QS i apply on a wet or dry car and i works great. I belive you get more paint protection with the AW than the QS.

"Since Duragloss Aquawax is a polymer sealant, it has good durability in its own right, but it will last longest when used as a topper. Plus, Aquawax will increase the lifespan of your existing paint protection."
from AG site

This one:

Duragloss Fast Clean & Shine Detail Spray #921

Is more the same type as the QS i think.

I know what you mean Lauren. I just placed my first bulk order which included the 64 oz Crystal Mist (39.99). Don't know how long it will take to go through that much less the gallon. They would not take a backorder for the Quickshine so I also ordered an AW to try.
Also ordered a gallon of the Poorboys SSS and another foam gun for the boat (that's truly a discovery worth its weight in gold SSS). Seems I am settling into my go to items.

I'm not thinking ... CM is??? Oh never mind - Crystal Mist - the best. DUH!
Thanks.

You guys must be right; I am over applying. I tend to have a heavy hand. I put the Souveran on too thick as well.

Thank you! Guess I need to not dump a ton on each panel!! LOL.
No wonder I need to keep ordering!!!
Gratefully,
Lauren :grouphug:

Wow, sounds like you're applying it as thickly as I am!! Are you getting streaking as a result of over- application too?

Thank you!
Lauren:)

Right now Crystal Mist is on sale for 49.99 for a 128oz bottle. 40 cents an ounce is not to bad. I just got a 128 oz bottle. If you get it today you can save an addtional 15% with the superbowel coupon code. I always buy the large sizes on products I use all the time if available. You really save a lot of money.

For some reason the dark red paint on my truck seems to streak a little on products that never streak on my other cars. I usally put everything on thin. It's just something with the paint/ paint color on the truck.

Yes..most people over apply a QD...one spray per panel...one MF to wipe it in and a one MF to wipe it off....using the same MF to apply and wipe off sometimes gets wet thru and applys QD as you try to wipe it off causing streaks.

you could do a normal car with 1 oz of QD..as the MF gets damper from applying you will use less and apply more product with residual product in MF from wiping it on the paint

Good instructions, thanks. That is certainly not what I have been doing. I soaked the whole (wet) car down with it and then went around and wiped it with one microfiber.... not exactly avoiding smearing that way!!

:applause: Thanks everyone!

Lauren....it is best used on a dry surface....I have seen some use a good quality MF applicator to apply it also...
but it is best to use after a wash,,to insure no dirt is on the surface...dry the car and apply it...

When you spray it..do a sweeping motion to cover a larger area..then wipe in and wipe off...

Hope this helps you

Thanks again, Al. But it says you can use it while it is wet. Why do you think I should dry it first? It clearly does work on the wet newly washed car - does it last longer on a dry one? I mean no more than a week goes by for me before I rewash anyhow.
Whatcha think? I am still a bit of a newbie...
Thanks!!!
:righton: You rock!

I think by using AW on a wet surface dlitues the product therfor your not getting the products full potential..

Your gonna have to listen or go to your room:p

Works for me. I can sit on the computer on the forum!! ROFL. Like I don't anyway. Hee hee hee hee:p :) :righton:

Well, that is better than an one day class suspension, so thanks Joe. From now on, I dry first then lightly apply AW. :awesome: Im the MAN

Are you meeting me in my room? Oh sorry don't want to get off topic. :D

I learned more from this thread already tho than I anticipated - never stopped to think about the issue of the product becoming diluted!!
Good thinking, dude!

Lauren:cheers: :D
