Lug nut brush longevity

I agree with desertnate...so many different ways to get the same end result.

For me, the brush i use works perfectly. Shove it in each lug nut hole and twist/rotate the brush back and forth. Use said brush to then hit around valve stem. Lastly on my truck wheels i have tight design slots that i use the same brush for.

Hit wheel barrels with adams barrel brush. The rest of the wheel surface is hit with wheels woolies bores hair brush. And BAM! clean wheels

I have the second brush pictured. It works great. Makes cleaning nice and quick but I wouldn't mind having multiple tools

Are you able to get into the lugs very well that way? On both my car and the wife's, the wheels have small, deep holes for the lugs. They are barely bug enough to get a deep-set, thin walled socket in. I tried using my wheel brushes, but could only get around just the opening and not all the way to the back around the lug nut/bolt. This is what drove me recently to a lug brush. I got tired of brake dust building up in those areas.

Maybe my technique was bad?

It’s not perfect, but at that point I’m trying to minimize the time I have to spend crouched down cleaning a wheel/tire. Lol.

The red wheel brush? What do you mean by tip? Bristles at corner?

Yes that brush. Yea just mash the corner of the brush in there as best as possible.

That is sorta what I do...I kinda mash it in there on the edge/corner
Exactly.

What I do as well. Seems to work well and reduces a brush and extra step.
Bigtime. Reduce a brush/time is my thought exactly. With having a brush to scrub the tire, another for the wheel face, another for the barrel, and another for the wheel wells, the last thing I need is more time spent on another brush. Lol. I used to use a long detail brush for the lugs until it frayed out.

I know a lot of folks like to buy/use dedicated products/tools, but I put Lug Nut brushes into the marketing/gimmick category.

Instead of spending 5, 10, 15 bucks for a Lug Nut brush, just buy a bulk pack of 1" foam paint brushes. They'll cost you about 20 cents apiece and do the job just as well or better than any dedicated brush you will buy.

I always thought they were a bit gimmicky as well. A long detail brush worked well until it became a bit too mangled up for use.

A bigger Swab-It is what I use for recessed Lugnuts. Good quality; seems to hold up well; I use them in other places too.

I use the caps off of detergent tubs with them. Spray whatever cleaner I want to use in the cap and dip the Swab-it into it. The cap makes a good place to set the Swab-it down, also. The caps also fit into a caddy that holds standard 32oz bottles.

Those reusable swabs seem like a good idea. I feel the detailing brushes don’t get deep enough and the insides.

I’ve always wanted to give something like these a try but feel like i’d hit rock bottom in my detailing addiction

Anyone try these? Asking for a friend.

I trailed those for a little while. Certainly effective, although I didn't like how the tangs that hold the foam push through the other side of the foam, grounding out at the base of the lug nut socket.

I like to use a brush for the lugs, center cap and calipers. I also found wooden handles are not suited to being constantly moist.

Using these two for the task at the moment.
