Once again Hill City Auto Detail and O C Detailing have teamed up for a superior cleaning job in Central Virginia. It's kind of nice getting to talk detailing, while detailing.

So we had an Ultimate Detail requested from this customer. That means every nook and cranny. Tough that it is a silver, so you don't get to see the WOW photo's like you would on a darker color. And although it was a perfect detailing day, we had huge trees shading us almost 100% of the time so no real sun reflections. Anyway, enjoy.

  • Optimum No Rinse (ONR) bath
  • Meguiar's #205 with the new Tangerine Hydro Pads
  • Finished with Meguiar's NXT
  • Interior w/Meguiar's APC followed by Hyper Dressing
  • Carpets w/ Meguiar's Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner
  • Motor w/Meguiar's Super Degreaser followed by Hyper Dressing

The starting pic, doesn't even look too dirty does it?

Thanks for looking.

Nice Job! :dblthumb2:

Question(s):

What did you guys use? An Extractor? A Steamer?

What Optimum products did you use? I fell in love with that stuff last week while I was in San Antonio, TX. I'm having to make some HUGE CHANGES to what I have and use? Also, I ordered a Steamer yesterday. I LOVED the Steamer. It makes things go so smooth and nicely. I also used my Tornarder along with a Steamer. The Tornarder KICKED BUTT detailing floor mats in a Lexus.

Feed back please

Very nice John. You guys are doing some very nice work down there.

I look forward to the day when I have a steamer ... or an extractor. But this job was good old fashioned elbow grease. I added the products used in the original post. Sorry, I got called away and rushed through my first post. Completely forgot to add the products used until now.

ONR is definitely my favorite. This was a first time use for Adam but I think he may be a convert.

Thanks bmp and Fred.

Well, I've had ONR for a while and have never used it. Don't ask. lol While I was in San Antonio, the high-end detail shop mainly uses all of the Optimum products. After being there for 3 days, I too fell in love with the Optimum products. I will be using that ONR very soon. Im the MAN

YAY! :D Yes, I am a convert for ONR now. We rocked on this little SUV. I finally found a guy I can talk detailing to for hours and we don't get that 1000 yard stare look on our faces.

Anyway, this vehicle wasn't too bad, we thought. We did get to see a few sun reflection shots and realized it was quite swirled, though the swirls were fairly superficial. In the end, it looked very wet and clean.

A few things to note for myself here. I LOVE ONR now. Can't believe how easy it is to use. I LOVE hyper dressing. That's some really nice product and leaves a great look to the surface of the plastics and rubber portions of a vehicle. Last but not least, John and I make a good team. He's as OCD as I am and we both do a pretty good job of keeping the progress moving forward when the other is focused a little too much on one small thing.

Thanks for the compliments all. It was a fun detail and there are plenty more in our future. :D

OH! And one more thing! I learned how to "stripe" floor mats and will now use the technique for the rest of my detailing life. I LOVE how it makes the floor mats look. Kinda silly, I know, but it gives it a little "candy on the pillow and a pillow animal" feel to getting your car detailed.

Why do you think I asked if you guys used an extractor? he he he :props:

LOL Ahhh, gotcha! Nah, I just used a carpet brush to "fluff" the fibers in the mats, scrubbed any stains we could find with Meg's carpet and upholstry stain remover, vacuumed the entire mat in one direction, then turned the mats upside down and vacuumed in the opposing direction at somewhat even intervals trying to keep my lines straight without using a straight-edge. heh Was hard at first, but I got the technique down in the end. Just need to work on keeping those lines straight. ;)

Thanks Mike and HHIslander! :D We have another to post today, exterior only, but I'm cooking dinner at the moment and will need a bit to post em up. ;)
