I have a Griots ROP and was thinking about buying the 5" BP with 5.5" pads. Whats the best speed setting to do paint correction with this combo? Or do you perfer the 6" BP/6.5" pads for paint correction if so what spped setting do you pefer? any contributing replys or info appreciated.

Generally speaking, 5 or 6 for compounding, 4 or 5 for polishing. Each and every situation may be different, so always do a test spot.

P.S. I am trying to make an order before the fall savings 20% is over soo input is greatly appreciated. :xyxthumbs:

Jim I used the 6" BP with 6.5" HT pads and had good results before I destroyed my pads (being a noob) wondering if the 5"BP/5.5" pads would get better results? Damaged pads in my recent post - http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...-newbie-collapsed-damaged-hydrotech-pads.html

5.5 inch pads definately give better correction abilites!

Negative, Bobby, IMO.

I still use the standard orange, white, black. :dblthumb2:

Thanks Mark!! :dblthumb2:

I bought 1 set of Hydro-Tech pads to try but for some reason I always grab the regular foam ones. One of these days I'll get to try them...hopefully!! :props:

Or maybe I'll use them in the shower....

I'm the total opposite, once I tried the HT pads i never reach for the CCS pads. IMO the ht pads both correct better and finish off better. I have had a couple issues with pad failure but no during their first use, but I've had pad failures with CCS and Meg microfiber too so....:dunno:

BobbyG, I sure wish you would give them a try, I would be very interested in your thoughts!

To the OP. You will get better correction from 5.5" pads no matter what type on a DA. I use speed setting 5 most of the time for correction using 5.5" pads. I use speed setting 4 for polishing but again do a test spot because sometimes you need to change the setting due to hardness of paint and severity of defects.

IMO 5.5" pads are worth the investment.

You will get slightly better cut on hard paint with HT pads, and they will finish about the same as regular LC flat pads. On soft paint, I feel HT pads don't finish well at all.

Interesting ..... I trust your opinion Mark, now I have to do some more side by sides to see what I find. I'm going to try them with Different polishes to see if the Type of Polish vs the type of pad makes a difference IE: 105 on flat vs HT and WGTSR on flat vs HT..... Thanks!:xyxthumbs:

Thanks Mark for the input I read alot of threads where you give some good feedback and everyone appreciates your opinion, soo thanks alot for chiming in on this thread. :props:

So the LC HT combo I use can I use with the LC Flat orange/m105, white/m205, and black/megs-ulw?

Hey Ryan, you got it bud!! :)

Yes, M105/M205 will work with orange and white beautifully. You can use black to apply LSP's, but I like to use blue because they're a bit softer. I use black mainly with finishing polishes. You will not get quite the cut with orange/white compared to cyan/tang, but the orange/white will finish the same or better in most cases. Also, the regular flat pads don't fall apart like the HT's. If you need a lot of cut, you could use the MF pads(with M105) which are golden!

I'm glad you posted here Mark - I've been debating whether to go with the HTs or the regular LC flats. With my car having stupid-soft Toyota paint, you've convinced me to go with the regular LC flats - saving me some money in the process as well. Many thanks!

Glad I could help, Francis. :)

Yeah, definitely go with the regular flats with soft paint.
