Hi OP,
You may think that they are light, but always remember there is only a few millimeters of clear coat on your car (If that).
-Your best bet is to grab a magnifying glass and inspect the scratches and swirls. *I've never had an issue with removing swirling of any kind, but the RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches) are the ones that require a Rotary machine.
Again, they may not seem to be deep, but in reality they are deep enough where they can only be drastically lightened with a DA.
- The other possibility with the swirling is your pads are not clean and are actually inducing swirls into your paint. Make sure to clean your pads after every panel. (search cleaning pads on the fly) It makes all the difference.
Try other polishes as well.
