m105 help

i have tried hitting these light scratches on my 1999 mercedes s500 with m105 on a pc7424xp on speed 6 on a orange ccs and optimum mf pad with no luck. i have light scratches like this around most or my car. i have had also no luck removing light swirls that i haven't had luck taking a picture of. any help would be appreciated thanks.

You might try a Surbuff pad. If that doesn't work, you may have to move to a rotary with a wool pad and the M105 or wet sanding.

Hi OP,

You may think that they are light, but always remember there is only a few millimeters of clear coat on your car (If that).

-Your best bet is to grab a magnifying glass and inspect the scratches and swirls. *I've never had an issue with removing swirling of any kind, but the RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches) are the ones that require a Rotary machine.
Again, they may not seem to be deep, but in reality they are deep enough where they can only be drastically lightened with a DA.

- The other possibility with the swirling is your pads are not clean and are actually inducing swirls into your paint. Make sure to clean your pads after every panel. (search cleaning pads on the fly) It makes all the difference.

Try other polishes as well.

Are you putting 10-15 pds of pressure? Are they in the clear or below the clear?

Are you using 6-6/12" pads and is the pad spinning on the paint?

They may just be too deep. I have some scratches like that on my car that you can not catch with your nail yet cannot remove with my most aggressive combo. I would also try a less aggressive method. The light swirls you are seeing might be marring that is left over from the aggressive pad and compound.

i am using 5 1/2 inch pads and i followed everything from the other posts but nothing has made it look better. you can't see the scratches in the shade but once under sunlight they really standout

Those scratches really don't look "fine" to me from the pictures. They look like stones coming up from your wheels and scratching your car rather than swirls created by rubbing dust/dirt on your finish as you wash it.

Do you know how these scratches were created?

and i got the scratches out so i just saved myself some money and you always got to start somewhere this is my first car and first detailer. i will just get better and understand more.thanks for the help by the way
