Hey guys this is my first post I would just like to say hi and thank you for anybody who has any helpful solutions for me. Made a big mistake yesterday when detailing my car. Long story short I was using products from chemical guys, I ordered M-Seal and a metal shine and protectant, , the mistake I made was I went to use the m-seal for my sealant and used the metal shine and protectant on my entire car! Both bottles looked identical, I didn't realize the mistake till after I applied my paste wax and went to start working on my wheels/tires. I washed the car again with car shampoo, I don't think it took much off. What can I use to take it off? I read that dawn dish soap will do the trick but is very bad for the car and paint? Any suggestions? thanks for the help

Also here is the link to the product I used by mistake

You can use dish soap to strip wash. Do you have any paint safe all purpose cleaner (such as Optimum Power Clean)?

You can also clay your car after you wash with dish soap. That would be sure to get all the stuff off your paint.

Don't feel bad! About a year ago I was teaching my little brother how to wax his car and I had Megs Ultimate Polish out to address some spots, and I ended up applying Megs Ultimate Polish over my half the car instead of Megs Ultimate Liquid Wax! I realized it at the very end and it was dark out, so nothing to do about it that night!

I wouldn't worry so much about getting it off as if the abrasives in the metal polish put defects in the paint. Did you look at the paint in the sun? How does it look?

Thanks for the help guys, and after I did my process the car looked amazing, If I had not gone to look for the metal shine to start my tires I would have never knew, It just makes me sick the car is a brand new 14 370z 400 miles on the car, and no I do not have any optimum power clean, went to two different auto stores last night in search of something when I asked for product to remove wax I got looks like I am crazy, I applied it after I glazed the car, the product did not have any gritty materials in it, it made the car very shiny did not seem to damage the paint at all

Yes, I would be more worried about any marks it left on the car

2014? .... 370? .... Nissan? ... Oh no, you wrecked the paint.

j/k. There probably isn't too much difference in the metal sealant's polymers and a paint sealant's polymers - neither of which should cause any issue on paint. Abrasives are another story, but if the paint isn't scratched - who cares?

I'd just top it with a wax and call it a day.

Glad everything worked out for ya'. And if this is the only mistake you make, consider yourself lucky.
One time I sprayed hair spray on my leather seats....... bottles were almost identical and I certainly don't use those two items any where near the same place, so, don't know how they ended up side by side...... anyway, I just ROFLMAO at myself........ kids thought I had lost my mind.......... maybe I have, so what? :props:

No need to worry then.
Keep the vehicle maintained on a regular basis with car washing sessions. When you want to change-up:
Apply your choice of (a different) wax.

If I had not gone to look for the metal shine to start my tires
I'm glad you didn't put the metal shine on rubber...
The outcome would not have been quite the same,
as above! :poke:

Dawn Liquid should do the trick. I have used it to strip cars and I have not had any issues. If that still does not do the trick...try white vinegar and see if that will do. DO A TEST SPOT 1st for the vinegar. I am sure this will solve your problem. At least that is what I would do.

Of course you will need to re-wax again!!....

Thanks for the help guys! I feel a little bit better now, I might just use the dawn, rewash with my soap and just start my process all over, lost about 5 hours of my time but live and learn!

Congrats on the '14 370z! I have always been a fan of the 350z and 370z, but I will never own another Nissan product. However, lease so I can beat on it and give it back has come across my mind before...:D

Enjoy the car and happy detailing man!

Curious...what's yr beef with Nissan?

To OP: Don't feel bad, brother. About 6 months ago I went about detail-spraying my Ram truck, when about 1/2 way through, I realized I was using my tire-shine. (The bottles look identical). Oops! A "quick" detail turned into a full wash/wax session. Live & learn, I say.

Few pics after I got done with the car, sorry for photo quality taken from iphone and garage was a tad messy, tried not to get any background in it.

Curious...what's yr beef with Nissan?
Based on my experience with my Nissan car, they don't last. I used to have an 05 Altima SE-R. That V6 motor is chronic oil burners because the pre-cats fail and back pressure sucks up bits and scores the piston walls and tears up the seals. This happens by 60k mind you. Before it happens if you replace with HFPC then you won't burn oil since Nissan's crap part was the cause. No TSB, no help for a fix. Just pay $$$. I never paid and was burning half a qt of oil in 1000-1500 miles.

Then at 80k and on you start to have the joy of dealing with a AT that is liable to go at any time. Mine made it more than that, but nonetheless it was on its way out. Don't know how much longer because I sold it. It was just some crap.

I had like 3 or 4 sensors go bad (some causing limp mode) on it in one year. But the miles were getting to be high at that point so I don't really hold that against it.

And my local Nissan dealer blows :D

So do all Nissans suck? No. I have thought about getting a 350z and making it a project car. But on my personal experience, I can't will myself to buy another Nissan product. Meanwhile, I have never had nearly the amount of issues with Toyota, but yet there are stories where older 4cyl Camrys (02-09) burn tons of oil and people swear off Toyota. So its all based on people's experience, and my experience with Nissan was horrible.

car when picked up
Looks fantastic!!!
