Made in USA Products

Back on topic.....3M Blue painters tape, not sure about meguiars or 3M green, but my guess is yes.

Never said it wasn't a global economy, it very much is, smart American companies export all over the world. I am not ignorant, as I know most business use multiple sources for their products. But it's a known fact that more money stays in our economy and multiples exponentially when an American company manufactures here. There was an article recently written about this. Manufacturing is not in the past by any means, it's actually growing again. And is a necessary part of our countries growth as a player in the world economy. I'm not stating that I use only American products either, but I do use as many as possible. And I am not saying use American products exclusively, there are many companies that produce quality goods around the globe. My response was in your seemingly cheeky response to some one who would like to support his county as much as possible. Nothing wrong with this in my eyes, and the thread was started on who manufactures American products, not asking for your opinion on why he wants to pursue this option for his company. I commend his efforts, and believe more people should strive to use quality American manufactures products.

I always was amazed at people who want to buy American products yet own foreign automobiles.

I drive a foreign car. I do, because it simply is a better quality car than any car manufactured in the US.

Now, on the flip side, I buy American as much as I can. I will even spend more money to buy superior American products, because I believe in rewarding those who put forth a solid product.

I recently looked to buy a water hose. I was looking to spend around $20 to $30. What I found at Lowes were inferior products manufactured in places I could not pronounce. In the end I purchased Eley's $90 100ft hose (kink free with a 10-year guarantee), $140 hose reel, $60 nozzle, 3 $20 hose guides and quick connects for $50. These are all made by Eley, are solid items with 10-year warranties and have a solid fit and finish to them.

I believe strongly in buying American; however, if there is a better product out there made by someone else, I will support that product. This promotes good workmanship. If you put out shabby quality products and expect me to shell out my hard earned money simply because you slapped a "made in America" sticker on it, then that's un-American!

"Domestic" car manufacturers are moving production to Mexico. So, if you want "American made/labor" - buy German car makes. Bmw, Vw are now making production in USA. My X5 is US made/German engineered. And now I'm planning to by new X3...

Now that's not entirely true for example next year GM is moving Camaro Production to Lansing from the Oshawa Plant. Ford just added another vehicle to their Kansas City plant as well as moving Fusion production to Flat Rock. VW has been producing the Jetta in Mexico since 1998.

Now BMW has been producing vehicles at Spartanburg for years and do a fantastic job and have been continually adding lines and jobs.

And as for American made.

Here's a quick recap of some cars made in the U.S. with their American Part content

BMW X3 - (assembled in South Carolina) - 20%
BMW X5 - (assembled in 2 locations, South Carolina and Mexico) - 25%
VW Passat - (assembled in Chattanooga, TN) - 40%

The German car from 2013 with the highest percentage of American sourced parts i the Mercedes GL Class with 45%

As for comparison

Chevrolet Corvette - (Assembled in Bowling Green) - 70%
Ford F-150 - (Assembled in Kansas City) - 75%

And for the JDM companies

Toyota Tundra - (assembled outside San Antonio) - 75% American part content

And for reference of the top 10 highest American part sourced vehicles

Chrysler has 2
Ford has 1
GM has 5
Toyota has 1
Honda has 1

Now this has nothing to do with quality but simple facts, being assembled and being made or sourced are two different things. Every segment has their top vehicles from numerous manufacturers and I don't know of a single segment where there is one clear cut winner. Most have two to four and the best car is the one that fits you best whether that be foreign or domestic.

If you want the info you can find it here, the NHTSA is required to put this info out.

The reality of it is just that, your supporting America and American people. We don't have enough products made here any more, and it's very important to support the companies that still strive to do so. It's important for our economy, and important for companies to still manufacture goods here. The money stays here, and people benefit from it. It's expensive to manufacture in the US and we should applaud them for keeping it in house! Your statement above is why I worry about Americas future, there is no loyalty or pride in a lot of Americas up and coming. It's a source of pride to use and buy American products, and it's sad that it's not easy to be able to get American products any more. So for you to say you don't get why he wants to use all American products, you don't get America, you don't get hard work, pride, loyalty. You dont get why I work my ass off in my small business. Would it be easier to work for a company owned by overseas(which many major ones are) yes, but I believe that we need to support American business, it's what this country was built on. I do it for Americas future, my children's future. There needs to be manufacturing in America, we owe to much money to other countries, we are too used to cheap and low quality goods. We are too used to having our hand out or expecting things. The government has a lot to do with America, but the people of America still have the last stand, and we are who built this country with our bare hands. If we don't manufacture here we have an economy that solely relies on other countries goods. It's not easy to manufacture here and it should be! And companies that do should be commended, because they understand the importance of doing so.

Yes sir!

Well it depends what you are trying to support. Even though cars are assembled in the US, (my past 2 Subarus and Kia were assembled in the US) it doesn't mean the parts were made in the US and ultimately, when the car is sold, the money is going back to a company that is not based in the US.

If you want to support American companies, buy American, if you want to support US labor, perhaps buy foreign.
