Hey its Maxima Dad with a question: I tried numerous searches on the forum but could not find any info, if it is there, my apologies for asking a redundant question.
I would like to show my pride for my son's ice hockey team and he gave me a magnetic logo for the team.

So the questions:
can this be safely placed on our new Murano's finish or the Maxima's?
Any special prep other than making sure it's clean, clayed and dry?

Any special routine for removal? Does it need to come off each time we wash?...

As always we look forward to the great advice and tips here on AG.

Evan

If the car and the logo's magnetic surface are clean, I'd say yes. I have a large magnetic Vistaprint sign that comes on and off my vehicle several times a week and I haven't noticed any scratches.

You will want to remove it when washing and maybe move it to different locations, especially in summer to prevent paint fade underneath.

Evan,

The problem I see with the magnetic stick-ons is they allow moisture, dirt, and dust to accumulate behind them. Another negative is they tend to move when hitting something abrupt.

Many people like them and use them. If you keep the area clean and protected and wash the area routinely you should be OK...

Wash
Clay
Seal or Wax

We used to have a couple of magnetic "ribbons" on our white van that supported pets, but they were collecting moisture behind them and getting little rust spots there, so I took them off.

When I apply magnetic numbers to my doors for track events, I apply a coat of wax and don't wipe it off. I apply the numbers over the wax. My thinking is that a barrier between the paint and the magnet will help save my paint. It has worked ok so far.

If they are only used for a short time period - 1 day or so you should be fine as long as the vehicle is clean, protected with wax/sealant and the magnet is clean as well.

I havent used them yet but I plan to next week, but I wonder if it would be a good idea to put opti coat ot c quartz under the area...would that be better protection with a magnet?

Maybe you can cut a piece of felt or soft fabric and place it as a barrier between the vehicles paint and the back of the magnet. You can try gluing it or so.

Just an idea. :xyxthumbs:
