Alright so as many of you know I started my detailing business 8 months ago so I still consider myself
A novice in the game. I started out with a PC and have used that since today after earning a decent amount of money I did some upgrades as I have moved forward in this business and bought 2 mytee lite II and another PC.

Today I used some cash out of our business account and bought a Meg's mt300 I know it's still not the best out there but I figured this would be the next step up and I figured baby steps was always the best option in learning this business as I moved forward in the learning field.

Anyway I only bought one for now and my helpers will be using the pcs now and I must say it feels a lot different and will take some time getting use to but it's a lot smoother and much more powerful as well. I have yet to do any correcting with the mt300 but that day will come (I can't wait :p )

I really like the speed settings on the mt300 and I also like the option to press the trigger button or to have it run Steady as well so that's a major upgrade to me from the PC. The price is a little high I think for this being on the lower end of the DA world but I'm guessing I'm paying for the brand as well.

If anyone has any information for me about this product please feel free to message me or comment, other then that I'm all in with the detailing business still going on 9 months strong and loving the life style and would also like to take this time to thank everyone for helping me grow and learn as I have moved forward in all of this! Thank you guys I would have never learned this much this fast if it wasn't for AG and all of the seniors around here willing to help!

I heard really good things about this machine. Keep is posted as to how you like it as you work with it.

Upgrade for sure.👍🏽 I've had the pleasure to use these machines several times at Meguiars TNOG and they're really nice to work with thanks to all the little bells & whistles you mentioned such as the speed dial vs. an on/off switch, better ergonomics, dialed in power for an 8mm polisher, perfect fit with Megs thin foam pads, etc. As long as you don't run into any weird mechanical hiccups it's a great machine and probably the best among the 8mm's, and yes that includes the Griots 6".

Keep an eye on that power cord. Mines failed twice. Both times after using it on 5 vehicles. Meguiar's fixed it both times under warranty. I had to cover shipping costs to have it shipped to their repair facility. They do have a quick turnaround. I was told that new and better replacement parts are being used. Other than that it's a decent machine and the ergonomics are better than a PC style based polisher.

Dude. Don't jinx him... Lol.

I have two MT300's and keep them with dedicated 3" and 4" backing plates for sanding and polishing tight areas.

The power cord isn't too hard to fix. Both of mine failed... The first time I sent it in to Meguiar's to have them fix it under warranty. It came back working great. The 2nd one broke shortly after and I just fixed it myself. It is just a really weak cord and after bending a few times it will break and need to be replaced. The 2nd time I ended up just finding the fault in the cord and cutting it back to remove the damaged area and reinstalling it as a shorter cord.

Can I see some photos of the modified mt300 cord you created ?

it seems like most all the DA's that megs have put out have had issues with the cords. it only has a year warranty and if you only use it a few times a year and then you go to use it outside that and it doesn't work then what? from what some have said it still doesn't have the power the GG6 has (not to mention the warranty)...

btw, congrats on the purchase!

Those cord changes were a lot easier than I thought they would be.

For what it's worth...

The how-to information in this DVD 100% applies to the Meguiar's MT300

The MT300 is a smoother operating machine than the PC, but it would not be the machine I would choose to upgrade from a PC. My friend bought a MT300 and after only 5 cars it died. Meguiars is going to warranty it even though it was just outside of the warranty. My concern is these machines are made in China, and maybe there is some quality sacrifices to meet a price point. On the other hand, its no more capable than the PC, and the PC has a proven reputation of reliability.

If you truly want to upgrade, go with a long throw machine. Rupes Big Foot, or when it comes back in stock the new Flex XFE15. These are professional quality tools. I am not sure the MT300 is built to professional quality durability standards.

Its great machine, but after 3 cars it started to have issues so I returned it and ordered rupes 21es instead.

and like other said, watch out for the power code, I have seen enough people with that issues, but who knows, they might have corrected that issue.

I don't have any pictures from the process. I think the "weak link" in the cord is the point that it is pinched under the small bracket at the end of the machine before it exits out the rear shroud. It was extremely tight to the point that the cord was practically squished flat. I cut the wires slightly before that and then took off about 6 inches and then tested for continuity with my multimeter. Then I soldered the wires back together and wrapped the exposed area with heat shrink. When I reinstalled the cord I did not tighten the bracket as much and I'm hoping this will prevent the cord from failing again so quickly. I never looked inside the one that was repaired under warranty... I'm guessing they just replaced the entire cord.

I've also had the cord replaced twice, once under warranty second time I just did it. I ended up selling it and bought a Rupes. When the MT worked I enjoyed using it

With all this negative feed back you guys are making me feel like I should just return it from where I bought it from now and just buy a flex or rupes...

If you are a professional detailer, I recommend buying professional tools. Rupes and Flex are professional tool manufacturers that just happen to make excellent polishers. In addition, the long throw polishers cover more ground in less time, which means more efficiency in doing a job, and better correcting ability.

We don't do a lot of paint corrections must jobs we do a one step. We do two vehicles everyday of the week and weekend we do 3 or 4. I might just return this and get the rupes mark 2 it looks like it's the best out

Do yourself a huge favor and spend the money on a Rupes machine. It is a professional tool for professionals. I'm still using the "legacy" model and I am very happy with it.
