Happy weekend AutoGeekers -

Plastic exterior trim is the bane of my existence; nevertheless, I find myself with a new Hyundai Tucson (black, of course) sitting in my driveway. As I have learned in the past, you have to protect trim on the front end of a car's life...once is gets to fading (or, heaven forbid, the dreaded tiger striping), you will be fighting a losing battle. [Side bar: Why on Earth do major manufacturers continue to put black plastic on these new SUVs?]

Ordered some WETS last week from AutoGeek and just applied today - seems to be a very good product. Question is, how often to reapply? It seems a bit expensive to re-apply with every maintenance wash? Just curious.

Congrats on the new car purchase. You are correct that it is far easier to maintain it from the get go. I use WETS on my Xterra that has a ridiculous amount of exterior plastic and I find every few months to be sufficient. You definitely don't need to reapply with every wash. That being said, while it is pricey, it also goes a loooong way. You're going to love it. Just be sure to get the trim very clean before applying it. I scrub all the plastics well with a brush and APC, then wash and dry the car and then apply the trim sealant.

I have a Rogue with the same issues as far as exterior trim and live in Florida which destroys exterior trim in no time. I've been using WETS since I bought it in February 2015 and applied it three times. It's great stuff. I'd say every 6 months would be just about right.
