Make up removal

Need some input for the gurus. I have a 2018 Audi Q7. Door is black soft touch plastic. My older daughter decided to sleep against the door on a road trip and got a good sized make up stain. Have tried APC, water, etc to no avail. Any suggestions is appreciated.

What kind of APC did you try? I’m surprised that didn’t work.

Try leather cleaner/conditioner. If you don’t have any on hand try some glass cleaner, but be light and don’t use alot.
 
I would try a melamine sponge, aka magic eraser. But use it wet and use it with a light touch.

If none of those work, how about actual makeup remover wipes? (Like Neutrogena wipes) Then quickly follow up with something like 303 plastic treatment so the remover doesn't dry it out.
 
A magic eraser might change the coating's visual appearance because makeup is below the surface texture. a magic eraser is somewhere near 6K grit. I suggest the comment above about actual makeup remover wipes. If it can be used on the face and it removes makeup, then it should work for your door without hurting the surface.
 
Yea you gotta be real careful using Magic Eraser on black surfaces. It’s like playing with matches. Don’t wind up getting burned cuz there’s no coming back. Lol
 
Try with some -mineral- oil. Then do a final wipe with APC to remove the oily residue.
 
Thanks for the input. I was thinking make up remover but wanted to get some input because I didn’t want to ruin the surface in any way.
 
Steam. That's the only thing I've found that gets makeup and, even worse, sunscreen off without changing the appearance of the panel. Not that every other solution will change the appearance of the panel, but I don't take the chance.
 
If you have a steamer, go easy on it. I discolored a peice of my trim being overly aggressive one fine day.
 
I'd be really careful with APC's of any aggressive nature (high PH), they can easily discolour the trim, I know, I learned the hard way.

What about the coating to which all automotive leather / faux leather has? I would think the abrasiveness would remove the coating. Personally I only use magic erasers in my bathroom. They ARE and abrasive.

I’d have to run it by “interior gal”, she’s the one who is IICRC certified... But I would venture to say she would suggest:

A good vinyl leather cleaner such as Pinnacle, which I have used to get out some nasty stuff would work; however I would rely on the power of “dwell time” and let it dwell for 5 minutes, as long as it’s out of sun.

Actually, vinyl door panels & dashboards aren’t coated the same way the seats are. Those door panels do not have a coating.
