Making the first big purchase

Thanks that looks really good! I'm still on the fence about what to buy but I'm thinking about buying a mini for them tough spots to get .. I want to make sure I have what I need the first go around :)

:iagree:
Luckily I have a business that supports my Autogeek habit...
3x Rupes 21
Rupes 15
Rupes Mini
2x GG6
HF 6"
2x Flex 3401
Flex PE14-2
200+ pads
500+ MF towels
And that's just getting started... I told myself I wanted the business to profit, not looking like it so far...

Habit?????

DUDE.... you have an addiction!
Geeesh... you only have 2 hands. ;)

I hear ya', about operating in the red (although I only do detailing PT, and have no interest in full time AT ALL). Just too many tools and goodies and not enough time to grab um' all. :D

Don't have all the buffers you do, but I've about got ya' matched on pads, and I bet surely beat on towels. :buffing:
OTOH...

Thanks for the detailed responses .. Theres so much to learn and so many different products it's make it intimidating that I'm going to order the wrong product .. But I'm learning :)

Really isn't a 'wrong' choice on a machine so to speak.

I'd still stand behind getting a GG6 no matter what. For the money there is NOTHING that can touch it. Especially when you consider that you can get TWO for under $200, then several different backing plates, and $150 worth of pads for what you'll spend on a Flex or Rupes.

Didn't quote your last message, but for tight areas (well most all of them) you can use smaller pads on the GG6. You can take a 3"~3½" backing plate with a 4" CCS pad and get into quite a few tight areas. Can even turn it up fast and stand the CCS pad up on it's edge to get into areas that the other small (read Meguiar's) pads won't reach.

Always enjoy reading your responses Tony. This is no exception. Packed full of valuable information. Well done good sir. :goodpost:

Thanks for taking the time to do so. :props:

:thankyousign: Mike... that means a lot my friend.

Honestly... the environment here is why I tend to write as I do. Well that and my upbringing... "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all".

Just that all too many online forums a new member asks a question (that may or may not have been answered (in some form) several times over) and is then barraged by snide remarks to use the "search function", which behavior just friggin' irks me.

Besides... we all know the forum software search function doesn't work worth a darned. ;)

When first getting serious about this hobby er.... addiction it's easy to think "I'll buy me one of those buffer kits and I'm all set" and that'll be the first mistake.

In that light I think we should be willing to let the 'newbie' (for lack of a better word) know that while this new path is extremely rewarding, that one need know just how important the OTHER 'incidental' materials are. Most ESPECIALLY having a selection of pads, which means NOT JUST ONE. :D That should kick start the thought process into thinking; "Oh dang.... this buffer package isn't anywhere NEAR what I'm going to need".

Which if at that point.... you then load up your cart (at more than one online detailing site, in search of all those "incidentals") and keep moving forward till you're worried if the wife will let you sleep inside..... you are HOOKED! Im the MAN
