Man dies at 102 owns same car 82 years - great picture!

True loyalty right there I bet a couple of tears came out when he finally let go of it. Because I would if I had my dream car for that long. May he rest in peace. What he died off?

He didn't let go of it until after his death, so no sorrow there.

I'm guessing he died of age. That may not be what the certificate says but living that long he certainly knew how to stay healthy. Perhaps one of his exercises was taking care of his car.

Original paint? I wonder who his detailer was?

too bad he didnt leave to his family...who knows, maybe he had family that would of sold it at the drop of hat rather than hold on to it for another 82 years.

cool story

My father didn't love me..... I only got a 1972 Ford Bronco (in 1977). Wish I still had it too!
I love that RR!

Awesome Wendell! Thanks for sharing! The goal of Skybaby and myself will be to break his record. :)

Hmm. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but with half your car being plastic, it just ain't gonna happen. We all know they don't make 'em like they used to.

No harm in trying to beat his record, though. :dblthumb2:

I'm sure he knew a thing or two about car care!!

He was probably old school, wiping his car down with kerosene and an old rag. LOL.

That car is HUGE, too!! The car completely dwarfs him in the big picture Mike posted.

Well, at 102 years of age, he sure didn't die in an off road rally or something

Or a jet ski accident or something?

Edit:

Wasn't he skiing down a mountain at 90 mph when he crashed?

Awesome! They don't build cars like that anymore.

:) Half is quite an exaggeration but your point is certainly taken. The thought ("don't make em like they used to") had crossed my mind as well when I posted that. Maybe the fact that I worked for my car and it wasn't given to me will help me to give it the extra care thats needed to make up for it.

Curb weight:

4,050 lbs (chassis only)

7,700 lbs (approx - with Barker & Co 4 door body)

3,650 lbs just for the body!

Great story, great car, great gift! He should have been buried in it. :)

It prolly can't stop very well. It does have a powerful 7.7 liter (468 C.I.) I6.

This car is also refered to as the "40/50 Phantom", meaning either 40 or 50 bhp.

Cars in those days did not come with seat belts. I'd hate to get into a wreck in something like that at 50-60+ mph.

No kidding! I was doing some checking and that car would have been around $12,000. In today's money, that's just under $150,000!! That's gotta be one of the best graduation gifts ever!!!!!

magnificent! i own a roadster. these type of cars make you feel young, which explains making it to 102.
