So I live at the Jersey Shore and I’m putting together my business plan for mobile detailing. NJ’s shore towns such as towns like Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle, Ocean city have multimillion dollar homes and during the summer season they rent out for a week at a time. I’ve read Renny Doyls book and it was a good and informative book but I can’t seem to think of the best way to market to people who are only around for a week at a time.
· Word of mouth- When people come down I can leave some cards in the cup holder and wish them a happy vacation and a safe drive home, and please refer me to their friends and family.
· Flyer or brochure- I can talk to property managers and find a way to get a brochure put into the house. Most homes have info packages so the people that are from out of town know where to get a pizza or the close bars or maybe in my case a good Detail for your car.
Does anyone have any experience dealing with temporary customers, Shoobies, or snowbirds?

What about offering it as a service at hotels. Have them put hour number in the services and amenities book in the room.

The only thing I do is word of mouth, website, car shows/meets and show your work. For detailing its not worth spending a bunch of money on marketing really the best thing is word of mouth and going to car shows and meets if you want show cars.

If I was on a beach vacation the last thing I would be thinking about is having my car detailed. It is full of sand and beach toys and everything else. When I got home I would be thinking about having it cleaned.

Specifically for the vacation houses I would contact the company renting out the properties. You could try and do door hangers for the properties you are trying to reach as well.

Don't know if full details would be vacationers cup of tea. More like maintenance wash packages with some basic interior work thrown in. If you are mobile, might be a good thing to even sell door to door.

I agree. I would focus on exterior wash, vacuum, an interior wipe down. They would probably mainly want sand cleaned out.

Think about it..you waited a year to take a vacation and spent a fortune on renting some millionaires house.

Are you willing to turn your expensive car over to somebody on your vacation that you will never see again?

Maybe start a wash service with bikini clad college girls.

Hey it is the jersey shore so there is no shortage of bikini clad college girls in the summer. I think I should adjust my business plan to include a few employes. I guess ill just go with the standard marketing and Word of mouth mostly and I'm sure some of it will wash over to the vacation goers.
