I don't know why people keep saying he's ducking Pacquiao. From what I've heard, and read...Pac wouldn't take the drug test. That, to my knowledge has been what is holding up that fight. If he doesn't take the test, then Mayweather won't fight.
I highly doubt he's ducking Pac simply because he hasn't ducked anybody. I mean he's fought everybody!
As for the fight...I didn't watch the whole thing. But I did see how the fight ended. Ortiz shouldn't have attempted the headbutt.
This is one of those things, where you have to look at it from Mayweathers eyes. Ortiz tried to headbutt...how can I get him back? Well, knocking him the #### out when he's not guarding himself with legal hits is a pretty damn good way to start! lol
Plain and simple...yeah, it wasn't a classy knockout. Was it legal? Sure was, which is why the ref counted. Nobody said you have to hug and kiss after someone tries to headbutt you. Ortiz got caught with his pants down, and paid for it.
That being said...the REAL problem with this outcome, is that it leaves no actual closure to the fight. Who's to say Ortiz wouldn't come back, and win the fight? All it really did was amp up the rematch (which there will be, I'd put money on it). You think Mayweather made money on this fight...wait till the rematch! He's gonna be making it rain in the streets, ha.
By the way...I'm not a Mayweather fan. But, I feel him on this one...Ortiz had it coming. That was a forceful headbutt attempt. A straight clean headbutt can cause quite a bit of damage to a fighter. A few quick knockout punches with gloves on is just gonna ring your bell for a bit...but you'll be fine. Bring on the rematch...I'll buy this one! lol
