I had a little time yesterday to wash up the mommy mobile so I thought it was a good time to try out the new McKee's 37 Extreme Foam Formula.

The candidate for this test was my 07 4 door Silverado 1500 LTZ. This truck hasn't got much love in recent months so it was filthy from the New England roads. A few months ago I polished the truck with Carpro Essence and topped it with Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating as a test.

I began by pouring about 2oz of product into my Wolfgang foam gun and then filling it with water. As soon as the water hit it it turned into a thick foam.

All I did before applying the foam was just clean the wheels and tires then gave the truck a quick rinse. Then I set my foam gun to the highest foam setting and went to town.(can never have too much foam!)

After letting the foam dwell I proceeded to do a normal wash with my microfiber wash mitt with a bucket of the extreme foam formula mixed up with water.

I have to say that it did a great job of breaking through the dirt and grime and left a nice clean surface. Drying was handled with my waffle weave drying towel.

Finished result. Just washed and dried here. No QD or spray wax in these pictures.

Looks great Justin. Can't wait to give this a try. Might have to break out the old "foam cannon" for this :)

Not too bad so far. It has diminished a little bit probably due to Essence and the fact it needs a light decon with a nanoskin towel.

Will you use a nanoskin towel to decontaminate as a maintenance step or wait until you're reading to remove the coating? I've always wondered what maintenance a coating needs other than washing.

Yeah I will use a light grade nanoskin towel and a lubricant to decontaminate the surface. Even though coatings help with maintenance, stuff can still get stuck on the surface over a period of time. Especially on a vehicle that see high mileage every week. With a proper lubricant it won't effect the coating and should restore a lot of the properties.

This makes sense and answers my question. I've yet to try a coating, but I'm trying to learn about them as much as possible.

Help a newbie understand. You used the foam gun but still used the 2 BM method? So the gun was used to pre-soak the vehicle?
I just ordered the foam gun from AG, thinking it would be a time saver, but perhaps not. This seems like adding an extra step, no? Pre-soak and then do a 2 BM.

I thought Mike P shared a "how-to" recently, highlighting his foam gun technique for washing his ride and he doesn't use any buckets.

Who knew car-care could be so confusing. Nice Silverado!

I had the same thoughts when I first used the foam gun. My main reason for still doing a normal 2BM wash is mainly because the vehicle was so dirty and soiled.

Now on my garaged GTO I will just use the same method as Mike Phillips because it hardly gets as dirty.
