McKee's 37 Wax Remover for Plastic removes dried on wax from plastic rubber vinyl trim
I finally got a chance to try this out. I had a trouble spot on my 97 Camaro on the plastic cowl. I think, in all honesty, this was not wax but polishing compound residue. In all fairness, I never tried any other product to "clean" this off. The trim is in otherwise good shape as the car is out of the sun and under a car cover.
This is the before.
After. As the directions stated, I sprayed the product on the trim and allowed it to dwell for a minute or so. probably half of it evaporated as it seemed this product has a high alcohol content. I then used a terry cloth wash cloth and scrubbed the area. Initial working got 50% of the residue off. I then spritzed it again as well as spritzed the cloth and scrubbed some more. I would say I got about 90% of what was on there off. It had been on there a long time.
I finished by dressing the trim with Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant as shown above.
Overall, did it work? For the most part it seemed like it did without doing any damage to the trim. Seeing as I never tried any other products to remove this, like APCs of any sort, I cant comment on a comparison basis.
Thanks for reading.
