Has anyone polished, used Carpro Eraser, and then applied McKees paint coating all in one day? Does Eraser hinder the adhesion or bonding of the coating? I know CQUK would work as they are in the same lineup, but not sure about the McKees paint coating.

Looking to do a panel wipedown after polishing the paint.

On a side note: do you guys think it's a huge deal to NOT use a polish by the same company? What I mean by that is say, can I use Poorboys SSR1 polish, then use McKees paint coating? I don't see it as an issue. A polish is a polish, and a compound is a compound...no?

I would use what ever McKees recommend as a panel wipe But wouldn't mix it up

That would be there chemical cleaner compound. But that won't remove polishing dust etc I don't think. I think it's just a chemical stripper to remove oxidation etc, clean deep dirt etc right?

I would follow there instructions using the coating polish that they recommend because it say it has no oils it may be a water based polish too promote adhesion its kind of different coating form a normal coating so too be safe that's what I would do if you have dusting use a tack rag or something too remove the dust without effecting the surface

I think it will work. Keep in mind "synergistic compatability" that Mike refers to. Certain products are made to work hand in hand with others and been tested as such.

I say this because if you have issues with McKees not lasting, it can then be contributed to not use the suggested products.

Me personally I own products from various manufacturers and would probably try.

The lubricants in CarPro Eraser do not bond well (pun intended) with McKee's 37 Paint Coating. I would not suggest using it as your prep.

The following products have been tested and approved. Obviously I would encourage you to use McKee's 37 Coating Prep Polish OR N-914 (paint prep dilution) for best results, but these work well too if you have some on hand:

  • Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep
  • BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Prep

Poorboy's World makes great polishes. Any of the recommended prep products listed above will remove the polishing oils from SSR1.

No. ;)

Is D114 anything like the Wolfgang or BF ( seems very close to the N-914 ) you mentioned above? Im on mobile and have looked those up yet.

so ive done quite a few cars with mckees paint coating and have started to notice that when I use eraser I have more issues them when I use say wolfgangs paint prep. I have n914 and just didn't think about using it as a prep wipe, but now I think ill try that on my next coating application.

I can attest to the Blackfire Coating Prep working with the McKee 37 coating. That is what I used when applying the coating on two of my cars.

I'm encouraged to see N-914 has a coating prep dilution. I really like the spray preps vs having to go over my car with a DA after already spending hours polishing out defects. N-914 being considerably cheaper than the Blackfire prep is a nice touch too!

I have about 2 gallons of D114 and IM thinking its the same thing as the N-914? OR at least can do the same thing,.

edited: Nick PM'ed me stating that N-914 would be best.
