McKee's Tire coating

These are what mine look like after 3-4 weeks. I have 3 coats on each tire.

I wash them weekly with some sort of waterless wash. The last 2-3 weeks has been McKee's N914 mixed as a waterless wash.

Got these during sunset on my way out of the office the other day. They have a nice sheen depending on the angle.

What's your process? Do you spray on the waterless and simply rinse the tires off? Brush? Towel?

I've yet to try my bottle of Mckee's Tire Coating that I got with my gallon of Mckee's Tire & Rubber Rejuvenator. To be honest I don't really know what I should use to apply it.. The directions say to use a soft bristled brush, but if it's liquid just like the Endura, I'm not so confident that would be the best way to apply it. [not to mention my tire brushes are pretty large and I think alot of product would go to waste if I applied it that way]

My maintenance process is simple for a weekly process.

1. Spray waterless wash
2. Wipe off with a microfiber towel
3. Done and move onto the next tire
4. No hose ever comes out as I keep them clean weekly.

For a bucket wash a soft bristled brush is ok to use. I have used a soft bristled brush in the past with no ill effects. But not a stiff bristled brush. A microfiber towel or old wash mitt works as well.

My application process is simple

1. Clean the tires with either McKee's Tire Rejuvenator or I will use Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner. I will do 2-3 passes on a tire while it is dry and agitate with a brush. I use the tuf shine tire brush. Then I rinse
2. Dry the tires with my metro sidekick
3. Apply one coat
4. Dry with metro sidekick. This will make it quicker to cure and dry the coating onto the tire. It will also push the coating into the grooves of the tire.
5. Repeat for each additional coat

For applicators

The carrand brush is a favorite of many. I've used it with the tire coating and it spreads out well. Gets into the grooves of the tire. I pinch the bristles with my fingers and then put the tire coating onto the bristles. Then work into the tire. Same as how Nick shows in the video.

My favorite applicator has become the tuf shine tire applicator. Stokdgs on Autopia recommended it as he uses it with tuf shine tire coating. Pretty durable foam and it spreads out the tire coating better than the brush. It can be a little harder to get the coating into the grooves but I am using the sidekick to push any coating into the grooves. I still prefer this as an applicator. It also works better with tires that have smooth sidewalls.

My DP tire coating is the Mckee's coating you have. Should give you an idea of the tools I am using for the tire coating application. I also jack up the car to get the tire all in one shot.

Is that Tuff Shine applicator similar to the foam 1 in the Endura Trim Coat Kit? Looks like it.

It feels different. It is actually more durable foam than the TW foam. I like it better than the TW. Plus I can actually use both sides of the Tuf Shine foam applicator unlike the TW applicator.

I'm talkin bout the Trim foam, not the tire foam. You can use both sides of the trim foam as well.

Sure. Go ahead and give it a shot. I'm sure it will work. I don't have the TW trim coating or applicator anymore. Tossed out a lot of products some time ago that I had no use for.

Well actually those TW trim applicators are pretty rare and work real good while they last... I still have some coating left in my 1st bottle but the applicator saw it's last day.. So nowadays I've been sort of stingy on using a new 1 because it'll be from a new box and I don't know where to get more.

I've got 4 trim coating kits but 3 foams... But if that Tuff Shine Applicator's good it may solve my problem. Last week I found a set of 9 foam applicator brushes in different sizes @ the 99cent store. I didn't get them, but I should go back because I bet they'd be perfect for applying the coating onto those hard to reach areas of the windshield cowl.

Well mine look like there is nothing in them also. I did them exactly how I was suppose to. So maybe the harsh winter and salts? I'm going back to gel till winter is over tomorrow I'm going to do my summer rims with the cleaner And coating.

So should I spray on the cleaner on a dry tire or wet tire and then agitate. That's my only question. All else I know I'm ok with.

See my application process. Best to apply to a dry tire.
